    - been impressive for b'muff (improved every game)
    - in the frame, nearly scoring
    - had his best game for b'muff tonight
    - never gives up, always trying
    - had a slight injury although recovered
    - linked up well with their striker (jayden stockley)

thought id give everyone an update on how young doble is doing for the cherries

I really don't see the logic in blowing £5m on a striker when we have doble and the new lad Hoskins. Sure if we were to sign Jay rod or beckford i wouldnt complain but I'd rather see these two given a chance at least until January. And then if it ain't working then make a move.

Sorry, but if we want to be in the premier league, we need to have that £3million+ striker. Just like we needed that £1million striker in league 1. Connolly's goals are going to dry up soon, it's inevitable, Lambert will probably chip in all season to get around 20 and we don't know what's happening with Barnard. Guly and Forte, although they can be used upfront are not first choice strikers and play midfield. We need one more quality striker to give us 4 quality options. Then if the situation presents itself, Hoskins can be used. Doble however, I cannot see him making it with this club.

Good to hear that Doble is playing well, but unless I'm mistaken, he's a striker and really, goals is what will define him as a player. If he can't score goals in League 1 (or in cup competitions against league 2 sides) then it's rather unlikely he'll suddenly be able to score at a much higher level.

He wasn't prolific for the reserves or youth team, so I'm really struggling to see why people think he's a better option than Saints buying a proven striker?

Agree, he still hasn't become prolific enough yet - you can't make a succesful career from being a striker if you don't score goals (unless your name's Emile Heskey)

im with CBK - never seemed profilic, hoskins always seemed to bang them on for ressies when i see their results, maybe he has more chance than doble?
either way i see us buying a ST and if conners gets injured hoskins or doble may be brought into the squad if needed

I feel as though Hoskins should be given the chance with us as experience will help him improve. That's not to say that we don't need a new striker as, if we want to mount a challenge for the Prem, we need another striker who will consistenly score goals.

Hoskins came on late last night, it won't be till next season that he will threaten the first team if we stay at this level, if not he will get loaned out to league one. Apart from Theo and Bale, he probably won't threaten the first team for a while, unless I am mistaken, which I hope I am as I am always up for a "hot Prospect". That said I hope we don't rush them into the team and ruin them - Lloyd James and Lancashire in particular...

As much as I'd like to see the youngsters given a chance, both of them probably aren't ready for the first team and I imagine won't be anytime soon. Whether Doble will make it with the club if we get to the Premier League, I don't know, but they obviously see potential in him if they're gave him a new contract earlier this year. We've done alright with just Lambert and Connolly so far as Barnard's been injured, but as the games rack up especially around Christmas time there will be injuries and fatigue and with Connolly's injury record as well, it's really quite important that we have four good strikers to take us through the season, and I don't think Doble and Hoskins can really have an impact this year.
