So, apparently we have been in desperate need of a left back since the sale of Danny Collins, but for some reason we are not able to find one. The mags on the other hand, sell a left back then manage to replace him within a couple of weeks......what the **** is going on with our scouting network?
Totally agree mate, if I could ask Bruce anything it would be why he has failed to fill the left-back position in 4 maybe more transfer windows. I think we were linked with Figueroa from Wigan ages ago but that never materialsed. Bardsley does a great job covering mind but if you look at someone in the Baines mould, a quality left back can add a totally new dimension to the attack. Shame really, if we had a left-back & left winger we would be a real force in the league, I hope haha.
I agree to some extent with this, but think the signing of O'Shea is meant to cover the full back positions
Exactly mate it just "covers" the position and does not fully utilise the role in which a left back can play. The trouble is quality left-backs are a premium but if you look at ones sold recently, Clichy/Enrique/Santon they all came in around £5-7 million, which isnt bad. If we didnt have so many gaps to fill after the loanees last season we may have had the cash to buy a Cissoko or someone.
Yep, possibily although I wouldn't include Santon as the same quality of Enrique or Clichy until we see how he performs in the EPL.
Been saying for years that we need a specialist LB. Always liked Bardo, even when he was getting stick and not playing well, but it's not his natural position. He's been great and played to the top of his potential there, however there is as others have said a difference between "doing a job" and excelling? Money has to be factored in and we don't have the cah to splash on everything (at the right level of player) so for me it just HAS to be a proven goal scorer. LB, LW can wait...again...
Its sad but true, striker has to be priority and we just have to accept that the team will be imbalanced for another season. Hopefully next summer all we need is a left back & left wing then we can add "quality instead of quantity", god how long have we been saying that for!
For this season at least, I would hope next season we get one in. I think Richardson will be gone next summer so will free up space for a lefty next summer.
Does Liam Ridgewell play LB??? He has put in a transfer request I believe and Brucey used to manage him...
