Re tonight's result the real test is how we perform in the 1st 4 or 5 games of the season. In other pre-season friendlies tonight Wednesday were losing to Mansfield, Millwall were 2 down against Colchester, Bolton were losing to Guiseley and Leeds were getting thrashed by Oxford. I am still concerned but hoping for the best

The Swans were beaten 2-1 by their La Liga opponents, who scored either side of half-time through Pere Milla and Sergi Enrich. But Potter’s men played some good football in passages of the game, and pulled a goal back late on through Jordi Amat. The Swans were pushing for an equaliser as the final whistle blew, and Potter is taking encouragement from the desire his team showed. “It was a tough game for us against quality opposition, but we were brave and we tried to play,” he said. “We made some mistakes, but overall I am really pleased with the attitude and the application of the players. please log in to view this image “There were moments of good possession, although it was challenging against a team with good defensive organisation. “It was good experience for a relatively young side. In the second half I was pleased with the way we kept going. We put in a lot of effort and the boys deserved the goal at the end. “We didn’t accept the result and that was good to see. The boys pushed on and I am happy with the personality they are showing on the pitch.” The Swans went in at half-time 1-0 down after Eibar scored with the first genuine chance of the game. Eibar fielded a near full-strength side, and doubled their lead early in the second period. But the Swans did not crumble, showing spirit as they put pressure on the Spaniards’ defence late on. Amat nodded home five minutes from time when Joe Rodon headed Matt Grimes’ free-kick across the face of goal. please log in to view this image “It was a really good game and a really good challenge for us against a side who did well in La Liga last year,” Potter added. “They are an experienced team who have a clear idea of how they are playing. “We coped quite well at times and struggled at times, but I feel the group are progressing. We are getting to know each other more and getting more information. “Today was a really useful test for us. The boys have been great all week – they are getting closer together and that’s another positive.” Recent signing Joel Asoro was rested tonight but is set to feature against Freiburg on Friday, while a handful of senior players did not feature against Eibar. Potter added: “You can’t read too much into that. It’s a contingency exercise. You don’t know how things will go as the window moves on. “All the guys have been brilliant. They have been very, very professional. I just wanted to look at some other options just to see how the squad is looking and how the team is shaping up.”
We cannot seriously go into this coming season, with the squad we currently have, for me we need a midfield general, and a quality striker otherwise another season of struggle at the bottom of the Championship will seriously destroy this young team with the crowd frustration on their backs, not to mention the empty seats that will start to appear after a bad run of 5 or 6 games.....................
He we go, another manager, we were courageous and brave in DEFEAT, I don't care how brave we were we ****ing lost, being brave and showing character come the start of the season wont give us points, winning may help.
You've obviously not been paying attention to my attendance. Unlike the lurker who was all over us like a rash until you got relegated, I've posted consistently on your board for a number of years. In no way am I on here telling you how to run your club. The yanks are doing a good enough job with the help of jenkins. What I am pointing out are the issues we experienced when we got relegated and the experiences of others who have also come down. Me the you've been isolated in your premier league bubble and haven't observed what other teams go through upon relegation. 1 in 3 go straight back up. Not great odds. Good luck.
Come on phil, this is the only way we can survive according to some, we have to sell everyone and bring in nothing that way we will survive financially otherwise if we bring in players we will be bankrupt and have no team. you are spot on 4 or 5 experience players a spine not expensive but certainly good championship players.

Didn`t Pinocchio say during the latter part of last season that he`d resign if we got relegated, or have I got that wrong. Time to dive on your sword big snout, if you can`t find one I`m sure there`s a few on here who`ll find one for you. please log in to view this image
But who’d pay even that? Borrow him for a year - then send him back to his parent club: no ongoing liabilities..
