Is this meant to imply that we are all fools on here ? Apart from yourself that is ? That we all lack understanding of the subject being discussed ?

There is no reason why the UK cannot negotiate a FTA agreement with the EU after it has left. Canada has done so, Japan likewise. If that is what you want then fine, but we have been told that we can also have access that is a bit deeper, such as the one that Norway has. Once again fine, but the rules start to bite a bit harder then. This is not what the leavers want though is it? They want to have access to all the good parts, but then want the EU to change the rules just to suit them. There can be some tinkering around the edges, but no way can you ask for the four basics of trade and social policy that have been developed over many years to be abandoned because one country thinks it can get what it wants at the expense of all the others.

I would suggest that Elton John has every right to express his opinions without stupid references to his sexual orientation.

I'm sure there are posters on this thread bemoaning the use of trading under WTO rules without any personal experience whatsoever. It can be a very smooth process with relatively small tariffs and automated systems. I would have thought freight forwarders have geared themselves up for the potential vast increase in their business.

With regard to your first sentence, it would be usefull if you start with the presumption that others do, actually, know what they are talking about - until someone actually says 'I have no experience of this or that'. This is referred to as 'civility'. Untill we actually have a CV. of every single poster on here then it is polite to assume that others have as many professional/academic experiences/qualifications as you yourself do. To do otherwise is pure ignorance.

I would not expect there to be many on this forum with actual experience of importing / exporting although this does not seem to preclude those without experience giving expert prognoses of likely future trading problems.

I don't expect my 25 yards swimming certificate will impress many.

I actually have lots of experience on this matter and know the pitfalls which I explained in some detail a while back. It can work in certain circumstances, but it is a slow and cumbersome method of trading generally. Not to be recommended when you need something in a hurry.

What I have said SH. is that we have no idea what lies behind the user names that we all use, and it is wise to give the benefit of the doubt on this.

What you can do over the years being on these threads is build up an impression of posters based on their own comments and information supplied. I do not doubt the validity of any posts, I expect them all to be genuine. I can easily justify my comment that I doubt we have many actual traders with considerable experience amongst our midst.

But you can’t explain what I supposedly failed to understand, or actually challenge a word that I posted.

    Ok.

    Go on then.....

Explain how you can justify that comment with some actual facts to back up your assertion.

    The floor is all yours.

There was a large article in Le Figaro at the weekend announcing the end of the "Macron Mirage". This was due to poor French financial figures from the second quarter, a rise in unemployment, poor growth, half the UK rate. The scandal over his senior bodyguard has helped his popularity to plummet with only 29% think he understands the problems of ordinary people.

The former committed Europhile, Lord Owen has severely criticised parliament for letting down the millions who voted for Brexit. He said ' The parliamentarians have really managed to convince themselves that they are entitled in a strange way to thwart Brexit. 'Parliament has to accept that it's gone out of their hands, but they can't accept it'.

He also added 'there would be dire consequences across the country if elitist politicians were seen to be ignoring the will of the people'.

Just dropped by and saw this....
So you have... and others dont.... etc etc

Actually anyone who follows the developments in the briefest detail will see the vast majority of FTSE companies ( erm.... i guess they count as traders) have expressed serious concern about their businesses post Brexit etc etc...

My brother is MD of a company that imports all its equipment from the EU..... I can tell you they are VERY worried

Continuing this.... the facts are: the vast majority of traders are seriously concerned.

The GDP predictions i posted sometime back tell it all....

Tell your brother to contact a decent freight forwarder, importing can be a very smooth process under WTO rules.

Importing equipment into the UK has everything to do with freight, whether by containers, pallets, sea or air, all paperwork handled by freight forwarders.

First and foremost it is tariffs
