I've always liked the idea of living in the countryside, I think the reality would be that I would hate it though. I once went to a village and was walking along the main street minding my own business and at least 4 people said "good morning" or "hello" trying to start a conversation! I found it very weird but apparently this is what it is like in villages.

Plus if you live in the country, there is a good chance that a farmer will shoot your dog, while your neighbours will report you to the council for putting your bins out on the wrong day.

Most of the farms where I grew up became golf courses, there's about 8 within a 10 minute drive, the farms that did stay all became catered towards the local high end market, organic, raw milk dairies, etc.

My first thought was Wiltshire, on the Avon somewhere

Edit: I was close, it's Castle Coombe in Gloucestershire

Looks like the Costwolds to me. I used to live in Brum when I was at Uni and drove up through the Cotswolds on my way back to study. I used to stop at a place called Broadway, which was frightfully posh and full of those costwold stone houses. Posh nosh before returning to the curry houses of Brum <ok>

This used to be my local boozer when I was younger, it was a crazy world once you went into either side(bar or lounge)it was so big the brewery had one manager for each side.
Young local birds would flock there on Fridays and Saturdays, you didn't know whether to **** them or fight them.
In the bar two old women would sit together, get drunk and then knock **** out of eachother, then repeat every day except weekends.
You could buy anything in there and the walls were spattered with blood from bygone fights.

Pity the old place has been demolished, I have to fight with the wife these days instead.:emoticon-0105-wink:

Tough pubs? Did you try the Eagle and Child?
In the first part of a special series looking at some of the roughest and toughest pubs of Liverpool’s past, Paddy Shennan recalls an infamous former Huyton boozer.

And a few memoirs of the area from some RAWK ****ers.

I've live in villages most of my life, can't stand the thought of living in a city.

The hi thing really depends where you are. Only really happens occasionally but I like it, I'm guilty of doing it at times too :)

I'm the opposite, never lived anywhere that wasn't about 10 mins walk from the city centre. The idea of being outside a city interests me, but not being able to just walk out of my house and have 100+ different options of food/bars/entertainment in a half mile radius puts me off. I complain about being bored all the time anyway so **** knows what I would be like with just a co op and a pub.

The strangers saying "hi" thing just threw me off. Only strangers who ever try to talk to me are either homeless asking for money, those charity dicks who are everywhere now or someone trying to mug you. I'm sure I would get used to it though.

I talk to strangers all the time in London. I find most people pretty friendly here.

I barely like talking to people I actually know, so strangers are a bit of a no go for me.
