Mauricio Pochettino turned down Real Madrid to stay. Harry Kane could take his pick of any club in the world. So far, so good, no?

Serious question, if Poch, Kane, Alli, Lloris etc wont hang around will it be Levy's fault for not strengthening? So far, yes. But it's naive to think Poch/Kane/Alli/Lloris/etc will wait around another 3-4 years if we don't kick on, regardless of their contract situations. I think that is why people are anxious that we capitalise on this almost once-in-a-generation squad we have right now by supplementing it with some top notch signings

I hope you are right.Patience doesn't need to be a matter of years...I think by the end of next year our income will be dramatically higher which will change our wage structure and transfer fees

You do really well with bringing players through and that could well be enough to get you to the higher income days, that said you also seem to find some cracking bargains on a regular basis.Tough question, because i also said i see our transfer business right now as being very difficult. We can't/won't pay the big bucks for squad players and improving our first XI (again, without the big big bucks) is really tough. Yet we have to convince the players to either see it out (til the money comes in as RCL said) or make that next step organically. If that makes sense.
It will seem like a missed opportunity for sure and i'm sure half our fanbase will round on Levy, but i'm not sure i'd be one of them. I'd be angry, at the world rather than an individual unless one steps up as having made some major cock-ups.
I hope you are right.

I think your biggest downfall at the moment (income wise) is the sponsorship. I have no inside knowledge of any clubs finances but do know they all receive fortunes from TV revenue, you have had the added bonus of high league finishes and CL participation yet seem to spend at transfer and wage level much the same as many smaller/lower clubs.No...it will be life.
We can not and should not spend what we do not yet have.
Villa are the latest in a very long line of stupid clubs who gambled with the club's future buy spending way more than they can afford.
People only tend to talk about Leeds and Portsmouth monumentally screwing up but the actual list is frightening.
LEEDS, PORTSMOUTH, SUNDERLAND, SOUTHAMPTON, LEICESTER, WIMBLEDON, CHARLTON, COVENTRY, BRADFORD, SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY, SHEFFIELD UNITED, BOLTON, WIGAN, BLACKBURN and ASTON VILLA.
Only Southampton and Leicester recovered and all but Bradford were established premier League clubs.
THAT is 15 clubs ... All off the top of my head...in the past 15 years.
In 1991 it was nearly us...no one outside spurs remembers how close we came to going under and it should never happen again.
United are minted cos of the ground and sponsorship deals and can therefore afford their spending.
We are spending what we can afford and should only be operating on that basis imo.

The income from the added capacity of the new ground will actually be a pittance compared to over all income so something needs to change. What, I don't know.
Fair enough mate, how many were/are chasing him this window or last?If his contract was running out and his agent went to Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, United, Citeh, PSG, etc and said "Harry's leaving Spurs, are you interested?" How many would flat out say "No"?
He'd get to pick. His transfer fee might put off some because he's worth so much to us and they might not have that kind of dosh but I don't see many turning down the possibility of signing him if they could. Strikers who score 30 a season in the PL are a very rare breed. Ask Lukaku and Rooney.

Neymar, Mbappe, Ronaldo all were sought after, Coutinho and Suarez were sought after, they could have had their pick of most clubs in Europe but Harry could have his pick of any club in the World even though no one seems interested.

I still feel that come the end of the window, Spurs fans will be very happy. This window is too big an opportunity not to do something big. It’s frustrating but I’m still keeping high hopes.
I don't think he means that kind of high! You must log in or register to see images
