To put it in perspective we spent £10m less than Everton last season - buying it ... as lazarus said, it's a necessity.
yea, Liverpool biggest spenders this transfer window. not even Man United have spent so much in one window before
As of now: 105.5mil If allison is 66mil... we cannot tell.... = 171.5mil Just to put in perspective. a) city have spent more ONCE. (last year) b) Utd have never spent that much c) cheslea have spent this amount ONCE (last year) but unitl the window is close who can say what the net figure is. last year city's net was 174mil. chelsea's was 107. Lets just see.
For the record here's what Klopp said [after utd bought Pogba, which is what math's referring to] "Other clubs can go out and spend more money and collect top players. I want to do it differently. I would even do it differently if I could spend that money. "If I spend money, it is because I am trying to build a team, a real team. Barcelona did it. You can win Championships, you can win titles, but there is a manner in which you want it. "If you all swim in the same pool, the pool is too small if you all go for the same players. There are a lot of players outside that pool, good players on to the next step in their career. We try to find them." That bit I've underlined is the salient point. Spending with building a team in mind is different to paying insane amounts on single players, with little thought as to where they will fit in the team.
not even? what about YOU and what about city? not even suggests you think utd have the exclusive rights on spending big?
Reality is utd might spend 75-100mil on a couple of players over night. thats where fees have gone. The quote mentioned is from early in klopp's tenure. the tv money and transfer fees are now so large you cannot get a player for 30mil. But klopp's bought a lot of players, and every one is in his team.
one final point. anfield road end expansion to make local fans happy. 75mil Goalkeeper 67million. thats where we are today. Everyone creaming themselves over this player but the anfield raod end means 4-6k fans don't get in to the ground.
Remember people - the bid is accepted but medical and personal terms yet to be completed. Not over yet but should be done soon...
medical is meh. getting him to travel to melwood is the key. if he travels its done... mind you the chavs can intercept at heathrow.
