According to Mundo Deportivo, with the story later confirmed by MARCA , the Brazil star is well down the line in procuring his new nationality.

Coutinho’s wife, Aine, is Portuguese and it is believed he is applying for citizenship through their marriage of three years.

Should he be successful, the Brazilian, 26, would start the upcoming La Liga season as an EU registered player.

I didn't bother opening it after seeing the despair wording as that just screams sensationalist.
