It's really surprising to see Croatia lose. What with having one of the best defenders in the world, and all.
Bad luck Croatia you have done your tiny country proud, but I can't begrudge the French, they are probably deserved winners over the whole tournament, what price a France/England final in four years?....
It was one game too far for Croatia after going to extra-time in the qfs and semi. While Croatia buzzed furiously around the French defence, the French gave a master class in keeping cool before asserting their control (with an element of luck going their way via the penalty - I would have given a corner but what the hell do I know). One of the standout players in this tournament has to be the much maligned and ridiculed Paul Pogba. He must have covered every blade of grass this evening, besides not wasting a pass. My man of the match.

I’m trying to picture how Theresa May would react to the players. Giving them all a big hug doesn’t come to mind. Really good presentation especially in that torrential rain.
That handball was very close. Really could have gone either way. I don’t know why VAR is being thrown into it. The ball clearly hits his hand. His hand clearly moves toward the ball. Did he intentionally move his hand toward the ball? That’s a judgement call. I would not have complained if it were ruled either way. Basically it was a coin flip that landed heads, then landed tails. The foul that led to the first goal was a foul. I think Griezeman “went down easily” but that doesn’t make it not a foul. In the end, France was the better team in the match and I’d argue over the tournament when you consider they had a tougher path. So It all worked out. There were some quality goals in that match. Even Lloris’s giveaway was at least quality entertainment if not quality play.
