Those three no balls from us (including two very bad ones from Berg) are looking huge now. The six runs conceded in extras, plus the free-hits.
Even with that though, we were still only one ball away from winning. It's not like Alsop and Dawson chewed up balls, in an attempt to calm things down. 6 extras in no-balls (mainly from Berg) and 7 extras in wides (mainly from Mujeeb) made a much, much, much bigger difference in my view. 13 runs (plus free-hits) conceded by us, vs two conceded by Kent.
I think we make 211 on that pitch at that ground if we didn't lose as many wickets at the start. To get as close as we did was a brilliant effort from our middle order (and lesser lights).
A distinct lack of discipline (from the bowlers) in last two game have been SO COSTLY. Makes things a little easier for the opposition... as tonight has proved.
I think that is all three games now that Mujeeb has bowled a wide that has duly gone to the boundary for five wides. Obviously he is at fault for bowling it wide, but I wonder if Lewis is struggling to pick him, and hence is not stopping one wide from turning into five.
So we will probably have to win 8 out of the remaining 11 games to qualify, a tall order but not impossible yet but the next is a must win game surely. Lose the next two and we are going to have a dull month of cricket until the CC starts again.
Still have a very capable squad........ just need ALL of the element of the team (as selected on the day) to CLICK.
ENG V IND second one day game . We won the toss and elected to bat 216-5 after 47 overs . BUT the main men are out . Buttler out for 4 !
Vince has been called up as a reserve batsman for the final ODI on Tuesday (with Malan leaving the squad to play for the Lions). Fortunately there's no clash with Hampshire matches.
There's a group of Indian men at the cricket wearing matching T-shirts with Sanskrit writing on the front....only when you look at it properly do you realise it is actually saying Yorkshire
