Have we been through this ? Sorry I must of missed it....or forgotten.

But surely it’s referring to someone’s personality and colour ie white/pink being the colour of gammon.....like ‘coconut’ is referring to a black persons colour and personality as well.....so does that mean ‘coconut’ is acceptable ?

I get your point Stainesy, but coconut is more complicated. Isn't it mainly used by black people about other black people, and isn't it about attitude and not colour? If white people use it, I would say it's not acceptable. I think that I, as a middle-aged white male, should be able to describe other such people as gammon if I choose. I hereby apologise to anyone on here who was offended by this, though.

Is gammon any worse than some of the epithets used on here to describe Owen Jones, James O'Brien, Sadiq Khan, or Jeremy Corbyn?

I don't think so.

Gammon is certainly racist, but then, Corbyn is antisemitic and left wingers justify it...

It’s definitely not racist. It’s a mildly amusing term for angry old pink folk. It’s become contentious because that group, despite supposedly being the defenders of free speech and lambasting “snowflakes”, are always the biggest snowflakes going. To call it racist undermines genuine racism IMO.

I’m gonna be honest Wills, I dont believe you.....and no this is the politics thread and not just about Trump (Protest is a form of politics).
I don't believe him either. Sadly he castigates Trump (which by the way is his view) however when you ask a simple question he can't answer it.

Of course It's racist, because It's a term of abuse restricted to people of a certain colour

Mate, I just don’t agree with you.....both refer to colour.....both refer to attitude and mannerisms and both should be classed as racist (IMHO).
No need to apologise as half the nation think it’s acceptable.....and as I say nothing personal on you.....just an interesting debate (as I had with my crewmate at 3am this morning)

I’m not lying. I have no reason to be lying. If you insist in calling me a liar, I assume you either think you have proof that you can share, or will apologise.
