Basically ppl are defending Sterling for what they used to slate Rooney over when he played for England.
True enough. The bit I don't get is it's as if there were no alternatives. We could have banged long balls onto Jamie Vardy to chase as well, the difference is he can play football and finish. Ditto Rashford. Either of those could have carried out this 'occupying defenders' role and also scored some actual goals while they were at it.
... and wasn't wumming either ... just think they are much more likely to target Neymar and / or Mbappe with the money from the sale of CR7 ...
If I were to give a very succinct mark out of ten and comment for each player who actually played it would be; Pickford - excellent. 8 Trippier - also excellent. 8 Stones - surprisingly good. 7 Maguire - good, surprisingly. 7 Walker - never a centre half in anyone's imagination, stop it. 6 Young - did his job, worked hard and made no mistakes. 7 Henderson - did his job impressively well, lacks class but not alone in that. 7 Lingard - worked his socks off but too inconsistent. 7 Alli - off the pace and at times did nothing, occasionally decent though. 5 Sterling - again, hard work but no end product. Not international class. 7 Kane - started well but faded into invisibleness. Scored plenty at the start though. 7 Rashford - not given anywhere near enough opportunity 6 Vardy - ditto above 6 Rose - drew some fouls, this is good apparently 6 Dier - added nothing 4 Loftus Cheek - did his job when required 7 Can't think of anyone else who did much?
And shown more confidence on the ball, actually demonstrate instinct on what to do in the moment, both of which Sterling lacks. It seems like he's constantly in two minds. I'd like to see how many moves broke drown as a result of him.
Not that old chestnut again! Bale went on strike to force a transfer. Kane has shown no desire to leave.
What, not being World Class (whatever the **** that is?) Yeah, basically. I'd rather have Sterling though. More of a team player, less of a granny shagging Billy The Biscuit.
What has any of that got to do with what I've posted Basically on the pitch, when Rooney had the world cup Sterling has in that number 10 role, he was slated for it. It's the hypocrisy that sucks here. Sterling has been almost identical in his all round performance.
