https://www.101greatgoals.com/news/transfers/west-ham-plan-sign-newcastle-lascelles/ This worries me as I'm sure that Mike will simply ask for more, get it, then sell our Captain. Just announced on Sky Sports News. https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/lascelles-transfers-west-ham-liverpool-14712171 https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/5893719/west-ham-raid-newcastle-jamaal-lascelles/
The only big players who’ve left under Ashley have wanted to. I don’t think Lascelles will see West Ham as a big enough step up. If Chelsea or Liverpool etc come in then it may get tricky as he may ask to move. Until then I don’t think it’s much to worry about.
It's an opening offer, that's what worries me. West Ham seem to be on the curve of a spending spree just now. I can see them offering Michail Antonio as part of a deal.
I actually like Antonio but not enough to offload any players for. Lascelles and Shelvey are the big worries this Summer. They are the only players I'd be that worried about losing and both could be prised away with enough dedication. I think Shelvey is safe as his increasingly underserved reputation puts people off; Lascelles though... I think we'll be able to hold onto him for another couple of years but then he'll go to a club bigger than Wet Spam.
£25 million The porn peddlers are having a laugh! Wouldn't buy his left boot. Young, English, Captain, Quality CB - statistically the best CB last season in the EPL according to Opta. Try doubling that and then give us Aunotovic as well!
Glad they didn't go to the World Cup now - somehow think Leicester are going to bracing themselves for offers for Maguire after his recent performances
You can always find enough money. Is West Ham big enough to persuade Lascelles to ask to leave? I don’t think they are. The valuations are the smaller part of this equation to be honest. For what it’s worth I think they are miles from Mikes likely valuation.
West Ham are no better off than us in terms of prestige, but they look like they are going to overhaul their squad and in Pellegrini, have a world-class manager.
Indeed. I think even considering selling one of our best players to a rival is daft at best. That said, if they waved Michail Antonio and £50m quid at us, it could be tempting.
They are but they aren’t there yet. It’s certainly impressive what they are doing (not sure where money is coming from). I think it’s a negative outlook to think Lascelles would leave for them. Looking at it realistically: 1: they’ve achieved zero yet 2: they are probably at least 10m off his value 3: Ashley has been very good to Rafa Si I don’t think he’d **** him like that 4: I can’t see Rafa wanting him out 5: I can’t see Lascelles wanting out The only things that could change all that is them offering Lascelles a **** load of money or Rafa thinking he could use that money to rebuild his side. Even if one of the above happen they still have to get past a ridiculously high seller in Ashley. I’d say 10% chance of him going to West Ham before summers out. If it was Forest on the March and family ties, then maybe it would be different.
You crack me up mate, you should do prime time. I do actually agree with everything else you said though to be fair.
Come on Rafa has had a shed load of money thrown at him. I know everyone likes to look at was sold to provide the money, but those were players Rafa wanted sold. He could have kept half the money and just gave him the rest. The books have already rendered the counter argument worthless. We are spending all we have.
If so, it’s thanks to the joint incompetence of Ashley and Penfold achieving 2 relegations in 10 years.
Re-read and you’ll note the expression “if so”. I know most of your claims are based on self made stats but even you have to accept that that expression is not a concession otherwise I may have used the expression “true” or something similar. Sorry, but you’ll need to put that champagne down.
Nope I sense realisation is dawning. You’ve took the first step. The first of many victories on route to your way out of the conspiracies, negative agendas and anti NUFC darkness you’ve been mired in for so long. Celebrate along the way and welcome back to Newcastle UNITED Football Club. Enjoy.
Can't see this happening. While Mike will be interested in money coming in think he will also see that a replacement of the same quality will take a large portion of any fee agreed anyway. Suspect Ashley will not want to rock the boat with Rafa in his last contract year. If he can get us a solid mid-table place again this year he will then sell up and allow new owners to negotiate with Rafa or bring in their own choice.
