United did not recoup the money in three days and nor will Juve, who barely sell out their ground.

The shirt manufacturer gets the bulk of the sales and most fans would have bought a new shirt anyway.

You don't recoup £100 million in days by selling the letters R O N A L D & O.

It was widely reported Utd had recouped the fee, mate. Within three weeks they’d made something like £200m. Don’t forget it’s not just shirt sales, there’s other forms of merchandise and methods to make money from huge signings.

Superstar players end up paying for themselves nowadays. Juve will definitely recoup the Ronaldo fee money.

Wherever/whoever it was widely reported was talking of their arse.

Do the maths; if Juve make a £10, or even £20, profit on every shirt they sell, how many shirts do they need to sell, that they wouldn't have sold anyway, in order to recoup £110 million in a matter of days?

Again, you’re only taking into account shirt sales. Merchandise covers a lot more than just football shirts.
