help needed please, I am thinking of trading in my old car for something different and have seen a pre owned model that l like. It’s a Range Rover Evoque 2.2 pure diesel auto and is 3 yrs old. It looks superb and is well spec’d out. It is in mint condition and the mileage is low and the price is good, so what’s the problem? Well, l have been told that these cars are a nightmare, very unreliable, expensive to fix and customer service from Land Rover is poor. The car would have a years warranty but l don’t want a long term expensive problem. I have tried looking up owner reviews, but for everyone that says the car is great, someone else slates it! So guys and gals, my question is this, Does anyone on here or someone you know have one of these motors, and if so what’s your/their experience of them. Thoughts greatly appreciated Glitf.
I've no experience with that car, but have you considered getting a brand new Evoque on a lease (PCH) deal? 3 year lease with 3 years warranty in case anything goes wrong. You'll have to pay for a couple of services and that's it. Lease prices include the road tax also.
Sorry, no can help. Not had one of these ever. Not even once. Also don't know anyone who has ever had one. No-one. Not one person. Sorry.
I know someone who has a land rover and also does repair work for them. I will see him at the weekend and ask him for you.
A mate had one a couple of years back. He didn't like it. Electronic issues, expensive parts and dodgy handling at high speed. As I said to him at the time: It's a luxury car and is always going to be pricey to run. He never had any issues giving it back to Land Rover, they were perfectly reasonable, but I guess it's just all about personal taste. If it was me, I would pass and get something more reasonably priced for the amount of car you're getting.
I think it depends on what you use it for. I know a friend has one but she basically uses it for schoolrun and has had hardly any issues. An issue with electrics (windows) which was expensive to fix. She still loves it. However another friend had one and he got shot after a year. He was doing a lot of miles and had loads of issues. Again electrical faults (windows, lights) and cost him a bomb generally. Neither commented on Land Rover so I assume they were ok?
Don’t get it, from what I’ve heard. If it’s SUV you need go for Volvo XC60 or Skoda Kodiaq. In terms of the company, JLR have made another round of redundancies. Just tread carefully with it. Wouldn’t be terribly surprised to see it follow Rover!
I know a few people that have them. Avoid is my advice. Expensive for what they are and can be very unreliable. One guy in particular has had a torid time with his. My advice would be go and look at the new Volvo XC40. Achingly cool, without trying too hard, brand new to the market and will be supremely reliable. There are far, far better choices than an Evoque about.
We have one on our car fleet at work and there’s been no issues at all. The lady has done about 15,000 miles and likes that it has still got quite a bit of poke to it. This particular lady is a bit of a fast driver.
Indeed. The Mrs was looking at these a few weeks ago. Interior was not for her, but they are a great looking car.
Avoid it like a Mackem. See if you can get a Volvo XC 60 with 2 careful owners and 1 that didn't give a sh!t. I think I may know where there's one going cheap...
We had a Range Rover Sport previously (for 4 years) and have just replaced that with a Vogue. Both were about a year- two years old when purchased with less than 10K miles done. Tried the Evoque when we were buying the Sport but found it was a bit cramped compared to the Sport. However had most of the same features. We have found Land Rover service to be excellent and the car extremely reliable. The Vogue we bought this time on a PCP deal mainly because we were worried whether all the pollution issues with diesel-powered cars and associated changes in legislation may make them hard to sell when we come round to doing it in a few years time. This way we can just give it back.
While we’re on the subject of cars, I’m looking at XC90 or M-B GLS (7 seats the goal here!). Anyone got an opinion??
Stay away from Land Rover/ Range Rover. Awful reliability now. I'm looking at the Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce. The QV is a little out of my price range.
