Forever West Ham Opinion... It’s sad that things haven’t worked out for Burke at West Ham and he’s a young player that’s held in high regard. Not even Manuel Pellegrini could see a future for him at the London Stadium though, and he joins Hull where he has been promised regular game-time, which is exactly what he needs at this stage of his career. Derby wouldn’t offer him the same and told him he would not be first choice. Despite the obvious attraction of playing under former Hammer Frank Lampard, Burke has to be be first choice or he could find his career really starting to go downhill. The Championship is a tough league and it will be a real testing ground for Burke. If he fails at Hull he could find himself dropping down the divisions and it’s very hard to make it back from there. We hope the England Under-20 international kicks on and we’re sure that all West Ham fans will be hoping the same. Hull City have bagged themselves a player with lots of potential – it’s up to them to make sure they get the most out of him.
City cannot win sometimes. First we weren't going to sign anyone, then when we do and Derby make a late bid the usual are straight in with 'derby it is then, etc' Personally I think the squad is squaring up quite nicely.
They said he had a choice of 6 different positions he could play and to take his pick, other than goalkeeper as we have lots of cover there..
It definitely looks like it was the promise of first team football that's swung it... Reece Burke set to join Hull after Derby County talks 'collapse' The Rams could not agree personal terms with the West Ham United defender https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/reece-burke-set-join-hull-1764010
Looking at him, and talking to a Bradford City fan who saw him play when he was on loan there and won their Player Of The Season, he seems a decent buy. The squad isn't large or strong enough in my opinion though.
It isn't ATM, but by hopefully today/tomorrow we should 4 in total so far that all look good buys and play positions that where needed. Add them plus I think 1 possibly 2 more permanent signings and then 4 loans I think we will have a squad that will see us not in a fight down the bottom
We desperately need a big centre forward who can hold the ball up bringing the wingers in to play assuming we are going for the same formation as last season.
It appears that a lot of WHU fans are chuffed that he's turned down Derby and chose city apparently ( something to do with Lampard when he left them to join Chelsea)
Agree. Obviously we ain't spending loads of money but seems we can still persuade some players to come here and start the rebuild with a very different looking squad. Testimony to Nigel Adkins I think, and I know its almost forbidden to say anything good about Lee Darnborough but maybe he's unveiling some new players. I agree only time will tell whether they're up to it, but does feel better than a year ago when Slutsky was already looking like a desperate man by this stage!
But why still nothing from the club, when suppossedly at least 2 signings are already training with us? Still feel nervous until they are officially announced. Then add Burke, a left back (Townsend) plus 4 good loan signings and things look massively different ( in a good way) .... provided we hang on to Bowen and Growsicki ( or sell them for a fortune and replace with quality).
memory of a goldfish and easily pleased are what spring to my mind. We are getting further and further away from being a team challenging for promotion, considering where we where, who we had and the money.
