Harry Kane has scored for England on six of the seven days of the week. The only day of the week he hasn't scored on is a Wednesday.

  2. I remember reading somewhere that you could pay on the gate that day. Incredible really.

I wasn't aware of that. We (my brother and I ) didn't pay at all, because my grandfather worked at Wembley on security.

I lived in Wembley then 1/4 mile from stadium. Every match of the World Cup I walked up there an bought a program or a rosette.
On that day....we went to Tenby South Wales, and I listened to the match on the beach on a tranny radio (that is a transistor radio...not a LGBT radio)

So I for one, was not there in Wembley on that day

I wasn't at Wembley for the final in '66, but I did attend the semi final against Portugal.

I considered going to the final & buying a ticket from a tout, but wouldn't risk not seeing the match! Later, I was told that most of the population thought as I did & touts ended up selling tickets below the original price!

My brother was at the final. He had bought a block of tickets when they first went on sale, which covered all the matches played at Wembley & White City.

Being younger (just turned fourteen), I managed to see Uruguay - France, England - France & England - Portugal. We went to Wembley box office the day before the Portugal game & could have bought as many tickets as we liked!

It was quite an enjoyable night!

Just rewatching the Russia Croatia game after a night at the theatre. Not really seeing much from Croatia, hopefully they have become a rather average team after their great play in the group games.

I was 12 at the time, and was lucky enough to go to all of England's WC games, thanks to my grandfather. We had to go to a certain turnstile and ask for a Mr Knott, who would turn up and let us through a side gate. We would then walk around to the first-aid post, where my grandfather was on duty, and he would take us through a little door which opened onto a kind of balcony above the tunnel where the players came out. This was in between the two terraces behind the goal - a perfect view (although I couldn't tell you if Hurst's second goal was actually over the line). I don't recall feeling particularly tense during the game (I was much more so a few months later when Rangers took on West Brom) and I think I fully expected England to win. We lived in Harlesden at the time, so walked home afterwards rather than trying to get on a bus, and I remember loads of people along the Harrow Road waving excitedly out of their windows. There was a general good feeling of course, but I don't think that the levels of excitement then were as great as they will be this time round, if we get to the final.

Looking back, I don't think I realised at the time quite how lucky I was.

If England win on Wednesday and get to play France in the final, where will you be watching it? I'm not going to insult you by asking who you'll be supporting as that's a given but in your case you will be able to sing Football's coming home whatever the result. What is the French translation?

I can remember going to the Post Office on Shepherds' Bush Green with my dad to post a letter
(That's what you did in those days)
returning in time to see the 4th goal. People were working as normal but listening to their transistors.

I’ll be Amsterdam when the final’s on - could be good fun, at least I’ll be relaxed!

I like Three Lions, but this is England.

And good news everyone! The 1990 England semi final shirt (otherwise known as the Turin Shroud) has been found and is currently in the wash (it’s been spending a lot of time on building sites, the little flirt). It starts its brief tour of Europe on Tuesday. It’s time has come, I’m on the Stroller bandwagon.

    We’re going to win this.

Neymar played in every game for Brazil during the finals, and suffered no injuries.

Yet he spent a total of 15 minutes on the floor after being tackled and sometimes fouled (some saddo added it up).

    Disrepute anyone?

Congratulations England. You had the stronger team today, and a great goalkeeper. When I have digested the result, I will support Three Lions.
