It was certainly coincidental. The World Cup has been a pretty effective PR exercise for Putin.

The best way to get away with a conspiracy is to get it labelled a conspiracy as quickly as possible. That way, everybody thinks "nut."

How we laughed and passed around the tinfoil hats when they said there was a conspiracy called Echelon, which was allowing the secret services to monitor everybody's email. Pth, the very idea that they could monitor all the email in the world.

Then Edward Snowdon came along and showed it wasn't just email but webcams, mics and everything else.

Funny thing is if you believe that maybe the secret services conspire to do bad things, there are nuts who think you're obviously a holocaust denialist and you also believe they faked the Moon landings. You don't have to believe every conspiracy theory, any more than believing anything tinged with the suggestion of conspiracy can't possibly be true.

i work with someone who has had a few breakdowns and he likes to take walks down beach to clear his head.

he was down there a couple of weeks ago and he said he was talking to someone who said see that strange cloud there its probably controlled by the government lol ie they are controlling the weather. it wasn't moving or anything unlike the other ones??

sad thing is he came into work and started telling us all like he believed the person lol.

Apparently some England fans invaded an Ikea (no Swedish people work in Ikea in the shop) danced up and down on display beds and generally trashed the place singing it's coming home as well. Social media reports critising actions told to get over themsevles by others who see nothing wrong with it.

So... at what point is celebrating going to far?

Wreak a first responder ambulance.... wreak Ikea? What's next?

Start burning tea towels when we beat Croatia?

I saw that the Japanesecleaned their dressing room and left a thank you not for thier hosts.

The fans cleaned the stadium before going.

Imo in 1996 never mind 1966 celebrating fans would not have wreaked a store or an ambulance.

    There's no excuse.

Same as excusing west ham thugs who attavked utd bus or the idiots who threw stuff at man city bus.

Find it odd that you would want to wreck anything when you win. Maybe some English fans are trying to take it back to the crusades and simulate razing villages by wrecking Ikea beds? They need to stay off the mead.

Do you want France vs England or England vs Belgium in the final?. Personally I want England to play Belgium.

if England are there it is more than enough.

Croatia are a bit better than Sweden... but there's enough in how they tried to defend set piece to give England a big chance.

France and Belgium.... same issues for me.

Griezmann and Mbappe running the wide areas or hazard and debruyne.

then there's the fear factor.. France are expected to win. Belgium are probably under less pressure to win.. I'm.not sure which side would.feel the fear of failure more and freeze up.

both sides have the class... really just get there first and play one really tough game.

France- They've alot of young players who have alot of pressured on them and alot of expectations. And thus far their 'best' (Greizmann) player is yet to really do anything. There also isn't the added incentive that its 'now or never'. However they are young and energetic and the Manager knows how to win a WC having been there and done it.

Belgium- It is 'now or never' for most, adds pressure or extra impetus? Unlike France older players full of experience. Hazard has shown what he can do in games and looks to be hitting form at the right time.

Croatia- Much like Belgium most of their squad is ageing and will be their last chance to win. Best squad since 1998. However not an amazing squad with plenty of faults. But no expectations of winning at the start of the WC.

England- No expectations whatsoever at the start, R16 or QF would have been seen as the best hope, zero pressures (despite the hype at home) as a SF is frankly an amazing achievement considering we wouldn't have been surprised at a Group stage exit. Dodgy defensively and sticking with a forward that can't score.

France and Belgium will be under the most pressure and whoever wins that SF will be expected to win. England/Croatia have a bit of a free hand in the final because of who is in the other SF, win and its glory, lose and its amazing to reach the final.

Generally we have a horrible drinking and lad culture in this country. Compare it to say the Germans who drink a lot of beer too, it's a more sociable place and experience.
