<rose> R.I.P John Dunlop a leg in the life of racing folk from my generation <rose>

He was at the peak of his powers just as I was getting into horse racing in the late 80s / early 90s. In what was a golden era for Sheikh Hamdan and his retained rider, Willie Carson (Nashwan winning the 2000 Guineas, Derby, Eclipse and King George and Dayjur smashing everything up except the shadow on the track at the breeders cup - both trained by Dick Hern of course). I remember Dunlop training Salsabil to win the Irish Derby (first filly to do so I think?) - great training performance.

a lot depends on the ability of those amateurs and experience too.the two well treated ones here are KING MURO and go west young man, with preference for the former, who didnt show a lot last time out,but has slipped to a nice mark again, and the girl is quite capable too..so,good chance..
