Good to see that May has threatened to sack any Cabinet ministers who speak out against the 'agreed' position. Johnson, Gove etc. will now be weighing up what's best for their leadership ambitions - keep schtum or a 'principled' resignation. Rees-Mogg has already denounced the agreement, which is a positive sign.
On the note of balloons, I read somewhere that another group have got the money together to fly a ballon of Khan dressed as a baby to see if that too will get the go ahead to fly wen Trump visits......I get the point of what’s good for one should be good for the other but I just wish that these pricks (on both sides) could see that the money would be better spent on maybe paying for a few nights sleep for the homeless in a safe bed or given to a charity.......but I guess that wouldn’t get them in the papers.
If there's a legal reason for stopping this daft balloon, then it should be exercised. If there isn't a legal reason then whoever tried to stop it would possibly end up in court. It's not City Halls job to stop a legal activity, merely stop an illegal one. I'm roughly your age and I don't need a lecture about personal sacrifice by Americans in WW2. Maybe you should remember that one of the reasons we fought was to maintain a free, democratic country where people did not have to agree with licking the bottom of those in power in their country or others. You have no problem in insulting those people you do not agree with. It's a stupid form of protest, but blaming Khan for not stopping it is just you venting off steam because you don't like him or his views and actions. Well, some people don't like Trump. I don't actually like either of them, BTW. Lucky neither of us live in the USA or London, and can't vote on it, eh?
You're right about one thing. I think Khan is ****ing useless. Stabbings and moped muggings every day all across London and all the guy is interested is social media and photo opportunities
Let them fly their balloons. It's a ****ing joke. A laugh. A piss-take. It's the British sense of humour. What's the matter with people on here? It's like the Daily Telegraph letters page. Get a grip.
What the **** are you on about ? My post was nothing to do with the so called ‘humour’ of it (even though I don’t think it’s that funny). I personally think it’s a complete waste of money that could be used somewhere else to do some good. To make it out to be some kind of subversive protest is the real joke......
I suppose my response wasn't really aimed at you, mate. I just find the purple-faced outrage about what is really just a joke totally overdone.
I do get your point to be fair on people getting worked up about the ‘humour’ of it all.....people find different things funny and some might find it hilarious while others find it juvenile. I just get pissed off at the likes of Leo and Nona, who I’m assuming come from a relatively privaliged background (though I might be wrong), making it out to be some kind of subversive protest when they could actually be doing some good in the world with the money that’s being spent on it all. Then again I’m just a sad old bastard who looks back to the days of Reclaim the Streets and J18 .
Top flouncer has flounced out. Davis spent two years getting nowhere so his boss had to do his job for him. And now he doesn’t like it.
DEXEU Midnight Runner? Another one gone, Steve Baker has resigned. I'd expect the 1922 committee to get rid of May before too long and trigger a Tory leader election. Not so strong and stable after all.
It really is a shambles. Misinformation led me not to vote. It really is disgraceful that those who voted leave really didn't really know what they were voting for. That isn't meant to be patronising but since the government only decided on Friday what leave truly meant, then how was the electorate supposed know what was involved.
It would be the last thing he wanted, but this useless waste of space resigning might actually raise the chances of us having a second referendum. If the Tories collapse into their default mode of tearing each other to pieces, it’s actually safer for May to have another referendum than an election.
There must now be a further vote before Brexit can be concluded, be it another referendum or a General Election. This hapless bunch of self-serving tossers are just too busy fighting each other to be trusted to deliver what is best for the country.
There surely has to be. If leavers are happy with these proposals then the result should be roughly the same. Can't see it personally but let's trust the politicians hey lol
How much more will the Tories now do to keep their blessed party together. May has now to go it "alone" with her softish Brexit...as she had run out of time.... Will the 30 odd hard Brexiteers go with her or flounce off with Mr Ineffective Sent from my STF-L09 using Tapatalk
If Brexit was a bus, the country was the passengers and the government was the driver, we'd all be trying to get the driver to stop the bus before we're all killed - now we have evidence of their lack of fitness to drive, as they argue who turns the wheel and who applies the brakes.
To drive or not to drive now that really is the question? Whether 'tis nobler to show some principle or keep schtum except through the use of social media. With apologies to the Bard the question is directed at Boris Johnson. Gove has once again shown his judgment does not match his ambition. It won't be forgotten in a few weeks when the next leadership contest is announced that he sold out
I think this is realistic. The problem for May is that she's going into vital EU negotiations putting on the table the deal she wants to end up with. That's not going to work, the EU will come back demanding much more - if she gives it, the Tories will kick her out. I just hope she's genuinely preparing for a no-deal, because that's where we're headed
