But you said to panic, and it’s all going to end. Maybe the rumours are true in that MA was selecting the players for LJ and having final say. It’s rumoured LJ has taken over final say on who he wants this season.
I know you've sold a few, but good to see you doing business early. Always good to have the bulk of your squad ahead of pre-season. Gives the manager chance to work with the squad before the first game and hopefully hit the ground running. I'm sure there will be one or two more before the first game, but easy enough to integrate those. Difficult to introduce half a team just before the season starts.
The model is good we cashed in on our assets and bought in players that improve the squad. I feel the squad is stronger with more strength in depth now even with the losses of Flint and Reid. Of course that does need to be proven come August
On the whole I feel reasonably positive with the quality of our signings, my point was though it had been driven by players choosing to leave , not by us deciding to capitalise on our assets as you put it, so it can’t really be accurately described as a model .
The club would've had plans for all sorts of eventualities including whether certain players left or stayed - I don't think it's a stick to beat them with. None of our signings have the whiff of 'panic buy' about them.
But RR said we will sell all or best assets and bring in dross. He knows everything don’t you know? Which right back or winger have left, for all these 5 to replace? We’ve only replaced Flint with Webster which was virtually a revolving door I doubt we said we will buy you if Flint goes.
My point was more that the loss of our so called prize assets were not as a result of a plan to improve the squad . Flint and Reid have both chosen to leave for pastures new. Bryan and Pack have not signed new contracts and will probably leave also , or if not run their contracts down. I’m not suggesting all the incomings are forced or as replacements , nor am I saying they won’t improve the squad .
I would he’s a great weapon coming off the bench. The trouble is the mindset of the players around him when he starts they tend to go long rather than play through teams. I can remember LJ taking him off at half time I think it was Preston to stop them doing it. He’s been hampered with injuries but with his op’s now hopefully behind him would of been a great asset with our new wingers.
Agree ROD ide be sad to see him go , he wins everything in the air , including some he has no right to win. Personally hope he doesn’t go.
Clearly another striker coming in with him leaving. If it means a better striker arriving then fantastic.
Engvall gone officially, is that £2m wasted or did we make a sale? https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/engvall-departs-city-for-kv-mechelen/
It was 1.4m it wouldof been 2m with add ons so you can bet none of those were triggered. Yes it’s 1.4m wasted but he had a good reputation to go on to be a good player. We wanted him to go on loan to a league 1 club for experience but he claimed to be homesick so went back to Sweden. Now he’s signed for a Belgium second division team. Signed from the time when MA was rumoured to be pulling the final say on transfers. Now it’s rumoured LJ has more say, and looking at this season’s signings they seem better. You win some you lose some we move on.
