Hi Syd, I think you are fighting a losing battle or perhaps swimming against the tide somewhat. Losing to the mags cos' I have lots of relatives friends etc who support the dark side is just awful and virtually swamps everything else. The logic that it is only one game is lost in the emotions. Plus as another poster has said, as we expect (hope?) to be a mid table side, our season is the two games against the mags and the 2 cups, well it looks as half our season is over. The angst and the blame for this does point to the manager, preparing the team for a derby game seems beyond him and team selection is at times bizarre to say the least, I still cannot understand, was it '8' midfielders and not one striker!. It is fine to put square pegs in round holes if the gamble pays off, or selling the teams most important player but not bringing in a replacement, however if these decisions or gambles do not come off then as in any other job, you have to expect criticism or the sack. The next 24 hours for SBs credibility and the teams prospects are crucial, put simply he has to find a decent replacement for Bent, he has had 8 months.. Suppose nobody is brought in, well the world has not ended and I will still be going to the SoL to support my team, although I have never 'booed' a manager at Sunderland for my nigh on 50 years of supporting them, I will now do so and just hope he leaves soon...do not ask who should replace him I have not a clue.
That's just simply not true...I respond in kind to reasoned arguments, of which newtonlee2 has never ever supplied...If you look at the history of his posts, every single one is anti-Bruce, anti-Sunderland players and anti-Sunderland. and that is why I find it hard to believe he is, or ever has been a Sunderland supporter... PS...It looks like my 'ewe' pun in regards to being classed as a 'happy clapping sheep' has just went over some people's heads..
Sunderpitt you echo a lot of fans sentiments mate. I am a pup at 37 years foloowing the lads mate but for both the mags and us at the minute, we have 2 cup games and 2 derbies to look forward too. After 270 mins of football we have lost 50% of our seasons targets and this from a manager that already had lost many fans last season. That all discussions lead back to his door is maybe frustrating for the likes of Syd but its also understandable that the number one issue of the day dominates debates. Even ones that dont start with Bruce as the topic. At midnight tomorrow we will all know, as will the man himself, whether he has a future at the club one way or the other and maybe then we can all move on from this.
I think it was lambs to the slaughter mate but some people are just a bit mutton when it comes to humour at the minute. Oh **** it I'll get me coat alright...Lol
look stop calling me a mag you ****ing idiot. seriously just because i'm a bit of pessimist i'm a mag??!!! it's ****ing annoying!
The problem in my eyes is that you cannot please all of the people all of the time. Bruce could sign Messi and some would complain that he is not tall enough to play alongside Gyan. I admit my glass is always half full and I like to think about the positives rather than the negatives. However, I am getting to the point where I don't want to come on here anymore because it is starting to get me down. I like nothing more than a good debate and being able to give a point of view. Some of the posts on here are laugh out loud hilarious and thats what I enjoy. Can we please try and keep each post to the OP topic and debate the point without getting into a slanging match?
Everyone is just trying to pull the wool over my eyes here and I am a little sheepish to post anymore. Maybe I'll have to ram home my opinions a little harder in future and stop you flocking to put me down. Now, top that ****er....Lol
Scatty - The problem is we dont make the headlines we only comment on them. Even if we had lost at Liverpool, beat the mags, got through the cup (as we should have done) and put a very poor Swansea team to bed, none of this would have exploded. The fact remains we didnt have a difficult start to the season, we have played 3 very poor teams and 1 resurgent team and we should (if we are really serious about things and the money we have spent would suggest that) have a min of 6 points and be in the next round of the cup now and looking forward to maybe one other addition to the squad or not in the last throws of the window. That we didnt means there is a huge swell of negative feelings carried over from last season and we look desperate scratching aound now for a replacement for a player we should have replaced as a priority weeks ago. Thats the clubs fault not the fans for debating it.
Well we've had sheep and mutton, and then we had newtonlee hamming it up with his porkies, and now we have got Scattymoo getting the beef with some of these posts...
just thinking out loud now, but is not getting a striker in weeks ago really the clubs fault, the players we have got in, were free agents, so others would have snapped them up if we didnt, surpless to requirements but very good pedigree, or up and coming very promising youngsters, who again someone would have snpped them up if we didnt. Just look at Gyan, if spurs had bought him weeks ago, he just isnt ready (for us anyway) imagine if he wasnt ready for Spurs right at the start of the season. Yes some have hit form straight away, Young/Jones to name but 2, others will take time, you cant take the forum from last season into this season, its best to see how they are doing in the 1st 3 games of this season, and if they are still on fire, then go for them, like PDC or similar player, esp when you are spending upwards of £13 million on 1 player, you want to see what you are getting this season, not on last seasons form.
Problem is mate we look desperate now and selling clubs will know that just as they did with Gyan. Popular opinion this time last year was that we could have secured Gyan cheaper if we hadnt dillied and dallied about. Now FREIBURG are going to screw us for the maximum amount (if that is the player we really are after that is). Who is to say that 2 months ago, we could have agreed a decent fee of say 7m or 8m and they could have had time to get a replacement in. Now they will demand the full 13m or 14m as we are vulnerable. Just my thoughts too though?
