Not sure when my first game was, I can just remember Toshack he went to Liverpool that season, remember my 1st away was against Sheff Utd, Trevor Hockey put our hope of promotion to bed.
 
My first game was 1968-ish. Portsmouth...we won 4 nil. (I should look it up in the history and get the date!) Got to the match by thumbing (remember that?) from Wick with my cousin. Went there for a weekend and stayed for six weeks.
 
First game for me must have been very early 80's. Think it may have been against Palace (I'm sure we lost 2-0 or 2-1) but was pretty much hooked from there (though was born and brought up to support the City).

Became a semi-regular from 84 onwards really. Probably some of the clubs darkest days but a fantastic grounding which makes you appreciate any good times all the more and gives you that awareness that even being a mid-table Championship team is no bad thing!

First ever away game was Shrewsbury in the league cup (may have been 86). From memory they were in Division 2, we were in Division 4 but on a half decent run.
We did well but lost to a late goal. Then it all kicked off.....
Not condoning it, but it was fascinating to watch as a kid (about 15 at the time).
 
A far distant 1-1 draw versus someone in the old 2nd tier in @ 71.I was told to stand at the foot of the bob bank on some bricks.
I think bobby woodruff scored.

Recall going to a few European games & a John Charles testimonial v Leeds in @72.

First season I went to proper was 75-76 promotion season.
 
Friggin' 'ell...can't remember what I Had for breakfast this morning, nevernmind the last century....for what its' worth I can remember a game v Hereford in Welsh cup in early seventies...packed to the rafters for a mid week game!!!! Actually went to NP for a Wales under 21 game v England before watching Bluebirds...my cousin Clive was playing for Wales (marked Perryman out of the game if I recall)..Oh, and he went on to play for Man. U. (Honestly).
 
From 1963, had been to some Wales games at Ninian and many Newport home games, being from Newport - don't hold that against me.

First City game, City v Hamburg, European Cup Winners Cup semi final, April 1968. Famous for keeper Bob Wilson (not the Arsenal one) letting in a soft shot for us to lose 3.2. Great game and superb atmosphere from a 40k+ crowd.

Started going to league games the next season with a home game on a very icey surface v Millwall. Clark and Toshack notched in our 2.0 win.

First away games the following season. First one at Ashtip Gate where about 300 of us camped on the home end. That got "interesting". Lost 2.0 with their G men, Galley and Garland scoring.
 
Who resurrected this thread after 7 and a half years?

Mid 70s watching Wales games an the odd Cardiff game late 70s a first season ticket and the odd away game.

Used to go with my dad. A bluebird since the very early 50s. Unfortunately he never saw our first prem promotion.
Some of the times I miss him most. He'd have loved our promotion seasons.

@Simbo - Looks like it was Simbo - top post on this page. How that came about I've no idea - perhaps he can tell us?
 
Anyone here watch any Football Combination matches?

I used to watch a few in late 70’s. Recall seeing George Best turn out for Fulham.

ps. Any idea why it was called the Combination?

Moscow torpedo 68, with my older brother and his mates.
Unfortunately I didn't realise how big a game it was, I was too interested in the smell of the hot dogs and burgers.
The only other thing I can remember about that night , was being car sick on the way home , hot dogs again.
 
15th April 1997, 1st ever City game. I was 9 years old.

City 0 - 0 Scunthorpe United - Division 3.. How did I ever stay interested? <laugh>.
