Their policies interest you enough to refer to them as far left, and as disastrous for economics - so I presume that you have some reasoning for that. I can hardly jump to their defence in debate if I do not know exactly what you are referring to, and I have no time to read their entire manifesto. As for the German national football team, I am no fan of theirs as you may have guessed from other posts. On the pitch they have been an accident waiting to happen for some time now - however the German government very often uses the World Cup as a distraction and brings in unpopular legislation during it, partly with the knowledge that the media is also distracted - mercifully that has now been cut off short.
During the election I read their economic policies in detail so I know exactly what I think of them. When there is another election maybe then will be the time I will go over the old ground again - but not now. I don't want you to jump to their defence in a debate - for a start you pointed out that German Greens and UK Greens share a name and banner not policies. To be honest I have not visited the world cup thread so have no idea what anyone thinks about it. When I lived in Wales though I supported the country I was living in unless they were playing England so thought you might have some interest in them - but more to the point I thought living there you would know what Germans feel about their team. It came as a shock to me though.
It is all very strange how this Brexit is standing things on their head. Labour supporting business because of potential job losses, and the Tories talking about raising taxes to pay for much needed funding for the NHS. The business leaders joining with the TUC to have a joint policy. I wonder when we will be told what is happening?
I have read the articles, Cologne. No scaremongering from me.... it would be scaremongering if I thought they were fascists - communism doesn't frighten me, I just don't think it works. Not sure how you've arrived at McCarthyite from me. I think either you've ignored pretty much every political post I've written or you're being paranoid or shooting from the lip because you're further left than I am.
One has to wonder how businessmen who voted leave feel about the behaviour of Boris. It's certainly unorthodox...
I am further left than you are Fez and I apologize if my post came over in the wrong way, I am just puzzled how the English Green Party could be described in that way.
French air traffic controllers are due to walk out again tomorrow, the ninth weekend in the past 13. Hundreds of UK flights cancelled already. The French are 50 years behind the UK in industrial relations.
That is why their pace of life is so much better.. and also are they actually behind the UK? In some ways they have a more active approach as it hasn't been kicked out of them by right wing governments in the pockets of big business etc... meanwhile i am VERY thankful it is not affecting shipping!
Well if it werent for the workers right to withdraw their labour we would still be serfs and enslaved eh
The French unions behave like ours did before Thatcher introduced sensible reforms that no government since has desired to change. By 'active approach' do you mean assaulting and kidnapping executives ? You seem to have little regard for the inconvenience caused to innocent UK families and businesses.
Exactly. Their impact is on ordinary people stopping people getting to work or in my case stopping my wife getting to her cancer treatment. B*stards, self serving, self caring politically motivated, megalomaniac led B*stards. Compulsory arbitration is the 21st century answer. Blackmail and holding ordinary people lives hostage is not.
Very emotive responses from both of you...... I think every worker has to have the right to withdraw their labour. Otherwise they are enslaved to their employers. You only have to go back to Victorian times to see the full impact on ordinary people and the industrial revolution made people serfs to the big mill owners. There have been slow and steady reforms as much part of people standing up for what they believe in. When we look at what some Unions may choose to do that is a different matter and for some the Union movement is part of the struggle of the working class against those that own the means of production etc etc.... I have never liked that side of politics but understand where it comes from historically. I talk here about a principle not the acts and decisions of different unions in different countries.....
The sole aim of the Union leaders since 1970 has appeared to anyone with a mind of their own to be to destroy successive Conservative government by destroying the economy and replace them with puppet labour Governments No one can deny that industrial action by the unions contributed to the destruction of the car industry during the seventies ultimately losing thousands of skilled workers their livelihoods, management was at fault but not as much to blame as the unions The current leader of the transport unions has made his ambitions very clear
I think it is important ot discriminate between those Unions with a strong political affiliation and others here is a list of just some unions for example cut and pasted from yougov: A to C Trade union Annual returns Accord Annual returns Advance Annual returns Aegis the Union Annual returns Affinity Annual returns Aircrew Officers Association Europe Annual returns Alliance for Finance Annual returns Artists’ Union England Annual returns ASPSU Annual returns Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen Annual returns Associated Train Crew Union Annual returns Association for Clinical Biochemistry & Laboratory Medicine Annual returns Association of Educational Psychologists Annual returns Association of Headteachers and Deputes in Scotland Annual returns Association of Local Authority Chief Executives Annual returns Association of Revenue and Customs Annual returns Association of School & College Leaders Annual returns Bakers, Food and Allied Workers’ Union Annual returns Balfour Beatty Group Staff Association Annual returns Bluechip Staff Association Annual returns Boots Pharmacists’ Association (BPA) Annual returns Britannia Staff Union Annual returns British Air Line Pilots Association Annual returns British Association of Dental Nurses Annual returns British Association of Journalists Annual returns British Association of Occupational Therapists Ltd Annual returns British Dental Association Annual returns British Dietetic Association Annual returns British Medical Association Annual returns British Orthoptic Society Trade Union Annual returns Cabin Crew Union UK (first annual return due by 1 June 2017) Annual returns Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Annual returns City Screen Staff Forum Annual returns Cleaners and Allied Independent Workers Union (CAIWU) Annual returns Communication Workers Union Annual returns Community Annual returns Confederation of British Surgery Annual returns CU Staff Consultative Group Annual returns Currys Supply Chain Staff Association (CSCSA) Annual returns and.... who was it that closed down Coal mining in this country???
Hopefully you will be so understanding of the French ferry workers rights when they withdraw their labour as you are queuing up at Dover.
