I can just about (only just) stomach Harry constantly bleating to the media and constantly contradicting himself (and the Chairman)...but I draw the line at his inability to set a team up properly or have a plan B. I think we're going backwards. I know City have spent a fortune, but if our team was managed properly last season we would easily have finished in the top 4. Mark Hughes anyone?
Harrys been running his mouth for a long time now, that annoys me too, but thats really the extent. I can't really blame him for us losing to the 2 Manchester sides. We were never going to beat United at home and it was only a matter of time before City became a real force. That time seems to have come now. 1-5 may have flattered them a bit. But 2 of the goals were due to Kaboul falling asleep and a 3rd goal was a wonder strike that couldn've hit row Z. Any other day it could have been a slightly better scoreline for how we played. Wasn't Harry's fault. Thats just my opinion anyway.
Believe me it didn't flatter them one bit, it could and should have been more, they were class on the day and Spurs looked disjointed.
By that logic we could've had more then District: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14606056.stm 10 shots on target to 12. Truth is they were more clinical, but you're assessment that there should've been more is way off the mark as per usual.
i Think we were unlucky in the first half and just collapsed, i still think its too early to start calling for harry's head as wev played the two best teams and we have lost some influential players such as sandro. Don't know why huddlestone isn't being started, are midfield was way too lightweight against cit, Kaboul and Dawson couldn't handle it.
Harry has lots of weaknesses, as do some of our players (and me actually), but finding someone who is better is very hit and miss - remember Juande Ramos. I'd have Ancelloti, or Hiddunk or Mourinho but Mark Hughes - no way... Someone should ask Harry in an interview whether his 'head is right' to manage the team. He seems more affected by the Modric saga than anyone
Why didnt he play Palacious? I know he is on the verge of leaving but surely he would have been better as a defensive midfielder than Kranjcar, even if he is no longer the 'great' he was once built up to be? Harry says he is short of defensive midfielders yet he is allowing one perfectly fit one to leave?
Full of **** as usual DL, as has been said, they were more clinical, we know what our problems are without rubbish interjections from you. Your wum attempts are...(anyone of hundreds of adjectives can go here)!
Until Defoe came on and tried his luck with a few potshots late on Joe Hart was pretty much a spectator. City got in better positions to score but Friedel pulled off some brilliant saves, make no mistake you were outplayed and outclassed on the day but there is nothing wrong with that given your limitations. City to me looked like they could have gone up another gear if need be but I am glad they didnt.
Perhaps Harry should be given a bit more time and let's see where we are at Christmas. BUT I still can't fathom how he set us up in a 4-4-2 formation with Kranjcar and Modric in the centre against Man City AND why did he play the lumbering Corluka instead of Walker? Every Spurs fan that I know, feared the worst when they saw the line up before the game. Why didn't he see this? There have been many instances of his tactical failings in big games in the past. I used to love Harry, but I saw signs last season and now this season, that he can't cope with the expectation associated with managing a big club. Admittedly he fuelled the expectation by successfully guiding us to fourth a couple of seasons ago, but that was on the back of "2 points from 8 games" the previous year - i.e no one "expected" us to finish 4th in 2009/10, so there was no pressure.
What reason would I have to WUM? I am just stating it as every other neutral saw it. You started brightly but never really troubled the keeper or caused City real problems, after that it was all City and they could have won by more than they did but took their foot off the gas at 4-0.
Crouch is a successful, professional, Premiership striker, who cannot run fast, kick a ball hard or head a ball hard. How he ever became successful as a striker beats me. 'Arry is a professional, Premiership football manager, who has been in the game for many years, and has no idea about tactics, setting up a team or how to make a team into more than the sum of its eleven members. Beats me how he still manages to make a living as a manager. But I'm not surprised they like each other.
City had one shot that tested Friedel. We had shots through Defoe and VDV to name but two. Keep spouting your unknowledgable rubbish though.
any further than the 6 yard box crouch has problems finding the net. yes he may be the most successful english striker but has failed to recipricrate that form in the premier league scoring a miniscule amount of goals last year.
Walker was still ill I believe? Didn't he go off at half time against Hearts due to an illness. I guess him and Thudd were both on the bench despite neither being fully ready to play except in dire need - so quite why Thudd didn't play is beyond me. A midfield two of Kranjcar and Modric signals dire need of a defensive mid to me.
I can just see Arry running about like a headless chicken atm, bumping into Modric with his head not on right.
Yep have you right here. It was fairly tight until the 30th minute, but Citeh were still looking more likely to score. Spurs seemed to give up at 2-0 just like the week before.
You could be right, because Harry has won only 493 out of 1,226 and a win % less than Hughes at 40.21. Saying that he does have a win % of 47% at Spurs. I think he's still your man, because who else is there? It is amazing to see some of the fans on here slaughter him though, after what he has done for you in such a short space of time.
IMO we lack any real leadership on the pitch. Dawson is great when paired with Gallas or King, but give him the reins and he seems to doubt himself. VDV is probably the next best, but tries to do everything himself and often is unable to last the full 90 mins. Parker will at least offer some bite, while the return of Sandro should give us added steel. That said, Harry seems to constantly big up other teams, belittle our chances, and contradict himself. His tactics are odd to say the least and lining up with a midfield three of Modric, VDV and Kranjcar was asking for trouble. It may sound controversial but the signing of VDV has unbalanced the team and meant that we play a lone striker despite not having one that can perform the role. If we had a Drogba then maybe, but Crouch and Pav are too weak. Hopefully Adeybeyor will hit the ground running, but I can't help thinking that we should be looking for another CF to offer us more threat and put away the chances that we create. We might not be able to attract the best, but there has to be one or two that will improve us, and are willing to take the measly £75k or whatever it is we offer a week. Ruiz is a good player, versatile enough to play on the flank (and offer a threat to Lennon), as well as being big enough to play up front (he's over 6ft) and has decent pace and strength. Leandro Demaio is an outstanding, if unproven at this level target man who we have been chasing for months. We have an agreement with Internacional and should utilise this to sign him up as he will end up joining a top team before very long. Again, he can play the lone ranger role if required and is within budget. Parker will assist the midfield, whilst Cahill or Samba should be approached for the added experience and defensive abilities that we sorely lack. King is only ever going to be a bit-part player and Gallas constantly picks up injuries. In short (and I know I'm making this look easier than it no doubt is, but let's face it we have had plenty of time to get players in), if we can get say Parker, Cahill and Demaio we should be fine. Add in the return of Sandro, loanee Adebeyor and one of Gallas/King and we may even do well this season. Of course, Harry needs to pick the correct formation and be proactive rather than reactive in his tactics, but that's another story entirely. Oh, and learn to stop spouting off to the media... it's making us look even more desperate.
