There's something I don't understand about something Bielsa said. He mentioned he feels he didn't need to bring in other players after watching all the games Leeds played last season, then I think he mentioned there maybe a couple of new players coming in. Bielsa also said the squad was too big, by about 15 players, which obviously means 15 has to go. Orta brought those, or most of those players in, now he wants to get rid of some without Bielsa seeing those who were out on loan. I got a funny feeling Orta is crawling up Bielsa's arse. Bielsa said, Orta will show Bielsa names of players Orta thinks should be brought in, then Bielsa said he would decide if they're good enough or not...best bit Bielsa said. Maybe some things said got lost in translation, and I believe Bielsa is going to do the best for the players and Leeds United, he also said that all the first team squad will be getting game time, which means to me, every player has the opportunity to show what they can do, and there's a couple of youth players that could contribute to the team as well. It'll probably all iron itself out eventually, but somethings sound a bit Topsy Turvy at moment. Early days yet, and I'm sure Bielsa will do his magic eventually. He looked a bit uncomfortable at the press conferance.
Good afternoon all Yeah must admit i noticed that, the twiddling of fingers, nerves and all,put it down to first press conference,in a foreign country & language he didn't have a clue about.Think it will all iron out in the end look at pochettino, seem to remember he was much the same when he came to southampton, look at him now very confident & speaks good english.I am sure we got a good one their, can't wait for the new season & the new look Leeds. Also looking faward to hearing about a couple of confirmed cracking sighnings,(not just rumour) hope that vydra ones true 8m seems to good but we will see.
Wow our new coach certainly means business. Only 12 players involved in first team training today. BPF Ayling Beradi Pearce Cooper Forshaw Siaz Hernandez Alioski Dallas Phillips Roofe Vieira at TA but not involved today due to England duty over the summer. That leaves Roberts (injured or doing rehab) And Pontus (WC) The rest...thank you and goodbye ?
Glad to see Phillips and Alioski included and O’Kane, Anita and De Bock excluded, I wondered if just maybe Phillips and Alioski would make the Bielsa cut, glad that so far they have.
Afternoon All Interesting to see it was only those that took first team training. To be honest I'm surprised Cooper is making the cut just given Bielsa's previous managerial roles and philosophies and having watched all our games from last season, one thing he likes is playing out from the back and an assured touch, while I like Coops he certainly has shown on more than a few occasions that he has the ability to have the touch of an elephant which has put us in some pretty tough spots (either rash challenge going in on the back of it or dangerous breaks).
I don't think we should read to much into that 11 training, I think Bielsa may be looking at them 12 at a time as a team. Can't see Phillips making the grade though, nor O'Kane or Roofe, maybe to start with, but think they'll fade away. Bielsa will want a strong midfield with his formation of 3-1-3-3. Alioski, Saiz, Dallas upfront with Pablo in behind maybe.
Not long to wait until our first purchase of the Summer. We are expecting to sign David Stockdale in the next 24 hours....
Could just be that some have returned at different levels of fitness. I don’t think Bielsa does a “one size fits all” training program (Pontus has said he’s received a personal plan from Bielsa at his World Cup base). So some could be doing ball work and some in the gym building fitness.
As a general rule they don't tend to sign world beaters. We wont see him again. #GWR We might see Japanese Bremner though. There are vacancies at the Trinity branch of Yo Sushi.. #GWR
You mean 3-3-3-1 . Think we’ll see Alioski wide right, Dallas wide left and number 10 will be a toss up between Saiz and Pablo with a loan striker. Forshaw the central midfielder in the bank of three who sit in front of the defenders, up for grabs each side of Forshaw. Will depend if Bielsa goes with what would look like attacking full backs or wide midfielders, maybe drop Dallas back and play Roofe attacking left, depends who we sign
