The Scottish equivalent of the Checkatrade trophy will this season allow the two highest non-league teams still in the National League to enter the competition.

As it stands, Sutton United and Boreham Wood are the two that will enter this season. Two teams from Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, as well as the SPL U20s will enter this season and have been for two years. Four regional teams from Scottish Non-league will also enter.

It's a neat idea, a good way to get more interest in inter-British football. I'd love to see it happen in our Checkatrade trophy, but I suppose there's no need now.

If they avoid each other there could be a Sutton United and Boreham Wood final then.

Sutton Utd vs Elgin? I'm sure thousands will travel for that one. Hope it's profitable for the eight teams travelling up there / coming down here.
