This won’t be a prolonged exchange Jim, as I have next to no time for the Murray-era stooges you constantly seek approbation from on CL.
You do have a tendency to create/invent Aunt Sallies to draw attention to yourself as some sort of victim. It started with that storm in a teacup over the Jimmy Seed Stand sign - a clumsy but typical error from Meire, but minuscule in the great scheme of the last four years. You turned into a hammier drama than the fire in Crossroads.
Nobody has accused you of “running away” from this forum. You get some flak on here in the same way I have seen you get flak from Charlton fans on other social media outlets - because you draw attention to yourself. Ditto nobody has accused you of running ads on your blog ? Did Tom Rubashow write that one for you ?
What you can be accused of is vanity & self promotion - a low key write up of your meeting with G******d M******y would have done the trick (why say you won’t name him when you already had ...). Instead you resorted to a tactic very familiar to the ex Fans Director from yesteryear ....”I’ve just bumped into Muzza/ Suthers/ Reg and they told me something ...I’ll get round to telling you after I’ve attended the latest Rothko Exhibition at the V&A”. That pomposity got many fans backs up at the time, and still does.
My honest advice Jim, which I’ve no doubt you will ignore, is not to try so hard.
The family connection is well understood now, welcome to Charlton and all that.
'This won’t be a prolonged exchange Jim, as I have next to no time for the Murray-era stooges you constantly seek approbation from on CL. ' If that isn't pompous, nothing is. And the classic ' this won't be a prolonged exchange' is priceless. lol. Sorry, I'll try not to waste you precious time.
I don't know where to start, because you're clearly a very troubled individual. You certainly poison the atmosphere on here, which is a real shame, as there seem to be some very good threads here, and some very nice posters.
Your problem is you're the sort of person that gets behind the keyboard and loses control, and you end up saying things that you'd never say to someone's face. And if you could learn to move on, and stop dredging up the past you might not be like that.
I'm happy to engage in facts, but you don't provide any. You say I seek attention, but then don't you with your odd comments on here and elsewhere and with your weird feuds with people that usually end up with you being expelled from whatever platform you're on? You say I'm vain. Well you may be right, you may be wrong, I don't know. I do have self respect though.
You say I get flak on social media. Well apart from you, and possibly people you've influenced, I don't at all. I've hardly even had a negative comment on Twitter. Yes I backed Henry Irving up on Twitter because you were being aggressive and unpleasant, but that was what, three years ago? It's time you moved on. Your whole motivation for attacking me here is based on what happened all those years ago. I do agree that when I first went on CL I may have come across as condescending, and yes, I was a new Charlton fan telling real long standing fans my opinions, when they weren't even fully formed. I must have come across as an idiot to some, but I said sorry, and I learned my lesson. I don't have a problem apologising Nick.
Yes The Jimmy Seed Stand sign business was difficult, and it did all get blown up, and yes I ended up feeling I was being used by the regime (but no I never felt like a 'victim',) so I turned the situation on its head. Yes, you can say I turned it into a hammy drama, but I believe had the right motive.
I have zero flags on CL, let alone been expelled. I had forgotten you exist until some CLs pointed out your attention seeking attacks on me here.
'Instead you resorted to a tactic very familiar to the ex Fans Director from yesteryear' - jesus man, get a life. He's just a bloke in a museum. He was elected as a fans director. Deal with it. It seems to be eating you up. Are you jealous or something? Don't be.
And you don't need to to tell me how to write up a meeting. I can write it up my own way cheers. I am who am. You are who you are. And that's fine.
But thanks for reminding about the Rothko exhibition at Tate Modern. I'm not his biggest fan, but may well pop along to check it out.
Or isn't that something a Charlton fan is supposed to do in your book? Mate, we're all different. That's just how it is.
