This is pretty much the way I am thinking.

However I don't think we'll get Pieters or Cissoko at any point in the near future, we are signing this kid as our number #1 Left Back IMO.

The Enrique approach, worked well eventually!

I would take this kid + Maiga, I would be delighted with this kid, Maiga, and Cissokho (that's gone suspiciously quiet recently...)

I dont think any of us are taking it as true until he is holding up the shirt at St James.

Its a strange one considering he could probably play for any club he wanted, definitely in Italy.

If its too good to be true, it usually is.

Well my 2 cents on the players for LB...

Pieters: (23y 0m) [127 games] isnt really fussed if he comes here or not...
PSV know we have lots of cash, having read their forums, but he has started the season really really well and has been the standout performer, so cant see him coming.
Personally see this guy looking at us as a stepping stone a bigger club

Cissokho: (23y 11m) [110 games] Is desperate to come but hasnt done a "Maiga" but is pestering for a move. Lyon want £15m+ while we bid £8.8m. I think £8.8m is too much for a player who had 1 good season at Porto and a poor season in France. seems very keen to join the French revolution and Lyon have a reputation for getting big money for players so cant see it happening either.

Santon: (20y 7m) [51 games] Very much unknown quantity but anyone who starts for Italy at 18 must be alright. From what I have heard he is a confidence player and with 50k (42k last weekend) roaring him on wont do him any harm. I believe he has a few injury problems (similar to balotelli) but I really think coming into a solid unit would be very good for the lad. He is a lot younger than the other guys who will only get one 5 year contract each.

I think the boy Santon would surprise us all

this is too good to be true, why only 5 million hes one of italys brightest prospects! before i heard a 5m fee mentioned i though it would take about 15m at least to persuade inter to lose a player of his potential! theres got to be a catch.

Benitez didnt rate him and he went out on loan since Mourinho was there. Lost his way at Inter.

He looks like he could be a great addition if the deal goes through. Judging by the article posted by Stu, he just needs to play consistently and in the same position, pretty much like any other player I would think. Would be fantastic if we got Cissokho as well, but lets not get ahead of ourselves...

I think we're all sceptical about transfers nowadays until, as some people have stated, we see the lad holding up the shirt at SJP. If it does go through it will be a massive step in the right direction, but we will have to build on it with the signing of a striker.

I hope we are not wasting too much time on this. Let's hope they are trying to secure deals for strikers.

Found this on a chelsea blog............sheer arrogance defies belief!

    ............................................................................................................

His going to Newcastle would not be the worst thing in the world, as he'd certainly be available to poach down the line if we need him (and we will certainly need RB cover soon). I can't see any reason to wait, however, as we can certainly offer a better wage package than the northerners

Is it a permanent deal or a loan? Don't think this has been cleared up yet.

It'll be permanent. no way we'd pay a 5m loan fee.
