England have to aim for 300 minimum. Notice I said “aim”.

I feel Pakistan are around 80 to 100 runs too short as I do not think England´s batting will be so inept again. Pity Wood was the one to drop out. Would have preferred Anderson or Broad to have been 12th Man, or are these two so undroppable??

Broad has been England's best bowler lately.

Was he that good in Australia and NZ? Or the "best-performing" of an under-performing attack during that tour?

He certainly found some rhythm against New Zealand IIRC.

    OK, thanks for the feedback!!

PS: Good luck for the rest of the matches in the one-day Royal London Cup!! Am I right in thinking that the first-placed teams advance to the semi and play the winner of the second v third matches?

Yes. Broad and Anderson are the two best bowlers in English history. To have them playing together is a privilege not to be spurned.

Yes. With the second placed teams getting home advantage in the "QFs" and the first placed teams getting home advantage in the SFs.

De Lange and Hogan both missing for Glamorgan, which is useful. Marsh meanwhile has left for international duty (akin to Amla).

Almost a case of Glamorgan just being Ingram.

I wonder how people feel about Ed Smith as a selector? With the recall of Buttler to the test team, without having played any 4 day cricket, would seem on the surface a reckless call. But, it seems Buttler has justified his call-up with a 50. Hope he goes on to make a really big score now to do his long-term test career no harm at all. As for Ed Smith, it is good that there is someone who thinks outside the box.

How would you assess England´s batting performance. It would appear they all got a good start. All deserving of a place in the side for the next test? Does Vince warrant a recall, or is it better for him to make really big scores in the County Championship to cement a place on the next winter tour?

I feel Vince has had enough chances for England and has taken it.

If we think back, two of England´s greatest, Gooch and Gower, were sometimes jettisoned, went back to county cricket before becoming batsmen of the highest class. Perhaps, this spell playing 4 day county cricket, is just what is required for Vince. Having said this, is he in England´s one day squads?

Doesn't sound like a great wicket though, or outfield. To be expected though, from an out ground.
