I was kind of gutted to find out that Fogerty was from Cali and not Louisian. CCR got that swamp - blues sound down though <ok>

I have recently been drawn to the early US Garage scene for some reason. This is for anyone who thought Punk Rock arrived from nowhere in the 1970s. Like almost everything else musically innovative, it started in the States some years years earlier...

Flower Power never really took root in Detroit. Rock n Roll as a subversive energy flourished though...

Detroit being the same city that produced some of the most joyful Pop Music of the 20th Century.

In the Civil Rights era, that too was a form of protest...

Common mistake, Archers. But CCR absolutely nailed that sound and are still one of the bands I regularly go back to for driving music .... :emoticon-0103-cool:

One of my favourite genres, I think that you can draw a direct line back to Link Wray in the late 50s who initiated the use of distorted power chords and then Dave Davies who opened up his amp and messed about with a razor blade inside to produce the early Kinks sound.

    This is quite well known...

Link Wray formed a great partnership with Robert Gordon in the 70s/80s. Robert Gordon still gigging now I believe, though I don't think he ever leaves New York.

I'll see what I can dig out on my laptop later.
