Was ****ing class tonight, especially in the first half.

People who were saying we should sell him are wrong. He still has class, very creative, fantastic dribbler. Even with Sessegnon in the squad, I think he is the most individually talented player in the team (though we'll see with Sess). He seemed to be playing in a "Pirlo role" tonight and I thought he was brilliant at it. Some of his passing was superb, he kept the ball moving, opened himself up for passes...spread the play, split their defence open, ran at them from to time.

And his work rate was enormous aswell, put in tackles all over the place. Great attitude from him and I think there's no way we should sell him. On his day he's a different class.

Maybe he got a bit tired towards the end and had lost the ball a couple of times just before he was taken off but in general he was great.

Only Gordon could challenge him for MotM.

    taken from the smb

I like Steed and I hope the rumours of Brucie offering him a new contract are true he can play either wing, behind the striker, in a midfield 3 and sitting a tad deaper and dictating the play like last night

great player and has a couple of years left in the tank wish he was in his early 20's though what a player

great player to have in the squad even if not starting, he could turn a defender in a phone box he is that talented and the most skillful player I have seen in the red and white and that includes Sess.

I think the position he played in last night could be his long term position for us now like. Him next to Muntari for the next couple of games dictating the play with the likes of Richardson, Sessegnon and Henderson with ther pace infront of them getting forward to help Gyan

Steed's style of football is one of the reasons I go to football, just love to watch him play. He is one of those its dangerous to write off, every time you do he seems to come back stronger and better.

Steed is one of the best buys we have made - an absolute quality player - I bet the spuds rue the day they parted with him.

Yeah he's one of my favourite players. Think he will do even better with more creative options around him.

I really think the balance of our team lloks good when you include Muntari and Sess in the mix

But who do we play. When Welbeck and Catts are fit and assumig its a 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1. Who are the 5 in midfield?

    Sess- Muntari-Catts-Welbeck and....Hendo/Steed/Richardson/Elmo

It's a good question. I imagine he wont have that problem often due to injuries/suspension. Plus I think he would have liked to have rested Jordan in an ideal world by now. He might also change depending on the oppo and style of play

nice to have good players on the bench what could change a game rather than the likes of murphy eh,dont like the sound of catts injury another month? could be out ages with a back prob ,would have liked him and muntari in the middle, with richardson getting goals i dont think he can put him back to fullback with bards going over to the right and ned to the middle so we can put steed, muntari hendo, sess, elmo in the mix so i prob go richardson, steed, muntari, hendo, sess, with elmo,on the bench,to bring on against some tierd legs

If we could get Richardson to work half as hard as Steed, I might stop moaning about him. :)

Don't think you can drop Richardson and I think he has now found his best position playing just behind the striker.

I only watched the first half the other night but I was impressed with Bardo left back, Steed to the left of a central midfield 2, Sess on the left wing, Richardson behind Gyan and Gyan himself so I wouldn't change this

    My team for Stoke

    Gordon

    Onuoha - Bramble - Mensah - Bardsley

    Muntari - Malbranque

    Henderson - Richardson - Sessegnon

    Gyan

Subs: Angeleri, Ferdinand, Mignolet, Riveroos, Zenden, Colback, Elmohamady

And going for a 2-1 win

Steed mom for me as well from Chelsea game, absolutely brilliant he was.

Thought Bramble looked as if he was trying too hard for some reason! Thought he was to blame just as much as Gordon for kalou goal.

p.s. Please take the Bramble comment as a one off as I truly rate him and can't believe we got him for about 1 million!!!! He must be worth 5/6 times that easily!

I wouldn't drop Ferdinand Poolie, didn't do much wrong in Chelsea game. Plus Mensah is like a piece of glass, lets make sure he is 100% fit before even contemplating starting.

As for bench I'd prefer to have Cook on the bench ahead of Colback, bit more attacking option, where as angerleri could play full back and riveros/Zenden/Elmo could play midfield.

Apart from them 2 changes I'm happy with your team :)

Agree with you all that Steed is great to watch. Worth the admission price on his own etc.

I love it when he gets surrounded by opposition players and ends up coming out of the crowd with the ball.

Seeing his little scowling face, never appearing happy (anyone seen him laugh?) is part of the match day experience. I hope we keep him for years.
