I’ve no idea who Glady is but I’m sure she means well.

My advice would be to not have a few pints, just have pints until there’s room for no more then have Gin. As long as you then remain in the Gin Zone you’ll not give two ****s.

She is a close relation of Gladly. My idea of a few pints might show not everyone's idea of what constitutes a few is the same.

I drink most spirits straight or with ice, except Gin. Gin I always have with tonic.

Eggs I have sunny side Up, sometimes with chilli powder.

Gutted about Stuart Elliott

I like paprika on eggs. Only spirit I have ice in is gin and tonic, every other one I drink straight. The thought of my late dad's expression if I ever was to put ice in dark rum is enough to stop that idea in its tracks.

Whiskey needs ice, the water helps bring out the flavours. Your Dad was right about Rum though.

My dad occasionally had ice with whisky, but only when I was older. He never drank whiskey, though I do as I am,partial to Jamesons and especially Bushmills.<laugh>
Of course when I was young you didn't have things like fridges with ice boxes, you had a cold box in the pantry so you couldn't have had ice anyway. In the early 60s only one in 8 houses had a fridge. I had left home before my parents had a fridge. And we were by means poorly off.
How things have changed regarding what not so long ago were considered luxuries.

I should think so as well, sometimes rum & coke (the liquid kind) or rum & port, how much rum how much port, your choice. I used to have ice in brandy but that's gone by the wayside now.

Only rum and coke if it is white rum. Dark rum should only be drunk on its own. In my opinion anyway.

No Kemps...no
Whisky requires water not ice. It needs the water not the chilling

EDIT - you’ve made me have one now. Just poured a large Jura Superstition and got a Cuban cigar out of the humidor to cut and have with it...you’re a bad influence!

Yeah they do say that. Never understood it myself, as I always thought ice was water.

Chilli powder on fried or poached egg???
