I'm venturing to El Toro on Prinny Ave tomorrow night - any decent drinking establishments for pre and after meal libations? Any I should avoid?

Paves a bit poncy.
Bowery bit rougher than the rest, probably suit you spes.

Pearsons has a disco and you get a lot of dirty older women in there.

Polar bear round the corner might have a band on.

Garbutts etc are all ok just none of them are proper boozers.

Thanks for that Chazz - Pearsons or Bowery look ok but, we have our own dirty, older women with us: I'd like to do a nostalgia trip down Spring Bank and finish in Polar Bear but I fear the poncey bar looks favourite. Cheers for the heads up.

Hole in the wall is an experience not to be missed. Don't think there are any other boozers down spring bank now tho? May be wrong.

Don’t think there are. One is closed and another converted to an ice cream parlour (which might be closed now too). Three bars remain at the Princes Ave end though.

Round the World in 80 days, next to Pave, small, select, great choice of beers, strong beers too. If your lucky they'll be playing Freewheeling Bob Dylan at just the right volumn.

Just back from Prinny Ave - my home town never fails to surprise or let me down, my Lincolnshire born kids and their partners, my Southern in-laws have all had a brilliant night; the food in El Toro was exceptional + the drinks in the 3 bars across the road afterwards were brilliant, went in Pave, The Lounge (?) and Round the World (an awesome place), we've had a great night; the only thing I missed was the promise of Bob Dylan ...... a very minor detail.

I'll get in Larkins next time Kemps <ok>

I really like El Toros and 80 Days (or Round the World or whatever) is great
It’s run by friends of my daughter and they’re proper beer people who know their stuff
Glad you had a good night
