As stated I have been away all day. Earlier I said I would go with the flow and put up a poll tonight regarding last nights situation. That was a plain stupid idea. I apologise. Even Durbar said it was a forgone conclusion (his only sane comment on the whole thread I think) Reading through the posts this afternoon, Durbar just continued where he left off, with no hint of an apology or remorse. He then turned on various other posters with insults and racist remarks, which was unforgiveable and simply not acceptable in this forum During the last 12 hours not one poster came to his support, so now home from London, Tramore and I have asked for a ban for Durbar, and it has been immediately granted. I hope that is the end of this unpleasant situation
An unpleasant and odd situation. I did bother to look up his profile and noted that he was retired (presumably older and allegedly wiser), had been a round for ages and had posted over 4000 times. Why suddenly launch an attack on a much valued and respected member that you surely must know (from multiple previous examples) that can only have one outcome? Odd. It's sad that we've lost another member of our community (completely deserved). Is there some way that we can 'advertise' our existence and gain new members or is it just word of mouth?
That's not exactly true Oslo. The bloke was out of order and particularly nasty. Just take a look at the RIP thread after the football player died about a week ago. That sums the bloke up. He was a troll who would deliberately hijack a thread and ruin it. After I quit the Politics thread he would follow my posts with snide remarks. He is gone and good riddance. Move on.
I think the ban was harsh He should have apologised I think he might have been the one with the bigger booze problem Not that I will be throwing stones in my glasshouse
Sometimes, life deals us some tough times and its probably fair to say, we all react differently. Maybe, with people that we have known for some time, they become punching bags for when we get moody and as such. Not right l know but we all make mistakes. However, the way he spoke about Nines was plain wrong. The fact that he refused point blank to admit he was wrong was equally wrong and stupid. It could only end one way.
Why don't you post much these days No time Wums scared you off Spending all your spare time on fantasy island Got a real life
Don’t know kiwi, just got out of the habit and didn’t have a lot to say, you were probably saying it all for me
I for one am sad we have lost another member, but in this day and age WE CANNOT have one member personally attacking another member and ridiculing him then attacking others that disagree with him and call him for what he is. In hindsight maybe I should not have prodded the bear as such, but I will not apologise for calling it the way I did, I will not stand for personal attacks on people in any walk of life not just on here, at the end of the day we are a Family club and I’d like to think that extends to here as well, We are a club of supporters from every walk of life, of every gender, race, background and to abuse one of us as as he did is is in fact abusing us all,and is not the way of our QPR family.
It's so easy for posts on places like this to be misunderstood and spiral out of control until it's too late to retract anything or undo the damage caused. A quick apology early on, with an acceptance, could have resolved this. But it wasn't to be. When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging...
True. Although we have formal moderators, we should attempt to "self-moderate". I do not think that we should have an attitude which is "more holy than the Pope", as after all, this is a football forum. However, we should not allow for personal abuse. Not to react to such inappropriate posts, is infact to accept them. Hopefully then, the respective poster will understand his error, correct his post, applogise and clarrify the situation, etc.
And stop all the name calling Durbar started it but he did come in for a bit of abuse and name calling Hard to apologise when you have people calling you a **** And no I am not a Durbar apologist He was wrong with his slur on 9s A ban was warranted for his recent behaviour Is it for life or a period of time
