Wouldn't normally do a thread for this but the Israel entry has to be shared. It falls in the category of being so bad it's really bad.......seems it was voted through to the final, God help us.....

Awful "competition" - if that's what you can call it. It's not even about talent, but about national politics, with countries voting for their neighbours rather than the musical abilities of the entrants (or lack of ability in some cases). UK will no doubt come rock bottom, receiving some points from Ireland but very few from elsewhere - not that I'll be watching. Enjoy Kiwi <laugh>

This is exactly right, yet there's something compelling about it, a bit like being drawn to the edge of a cliff to look down into the precipice. Although, admittedly it's not the same without Wogan's light-hearted cynicism.

Abba was ok in their ”girly way pop”. So were few other past winners but in nowadays its a pathetic contest with some horrible music....

Agree about how it is now.
Abba, however, were far far better than some people give them credit for. The two girls had good voices but the two guys were incredibly talented musicians and songwriters.
Some of the music in the musical Chess is one of the hardest to play orchestrations I've ever seen.

I may have no musical taste but I’ve heard a lot worse than the large Israeli woman and, though as a punk aficionado I mocked ABBA at the time, I now think that there is a touch of genius about them, some very beautiful and as Col says complicated songs.

I have never knowingly watched more than 15 minutes of Eurovision.
