Would be the perfect finish to the transfer window and get us back on track. 2loans and one permanent deal.

Been linked with all 3 and would address the lack of creativity on the left flank aswell as goals upfront.

I hope your listening Brucie son go and get them, these last few days of the transfer window will determine our season.

I'm starting to sway toward wanting 2 strikers rather than a st and a lw. I've got a feeling the club might have a big decision regarding Asamoah Gyan on transfer deadline day. Id take Defoe and Kranjcar in a straight swap for Gyan. Think Bellamy will end up at Spurs or Liverpool. Interesting to see Arsenal are signing another striker so something may happen with Bendtner

It's only my opinion but i don't think Kranjar is the answer for the left. He's basically a central midfielder with talent but lacks the competitiveness for the middle so is deployed on the left. He'd be ANOTHER central player in the ranks to go with Colback, Gardner, Cattermole, Vaughan, Larsson, Meyler. He'd cost a lot of money and not really solve the problems we've got. Admittedly i'd take him because he would improve us, but we can't really afford that kind of cash for a barely needed luxury. Going down that line would be seriously, seriously dangerous ground for us as we're not the kind of club who can waste money. We really shoudn't have brought in Gardner (and probably Vaughan), as good as he may be, because we desperately need to increase the pool of ATTACKING talents in the squad. Now that Gardner is here, we might as well sell Cattermole (we can't sell Gardner really, can we?) and Colback. This will bring in a bit more cash to get some attacking talents that we're just absolutely desperate for. When you look at all the central midfield grafters we've got, one has to question the sanity of Bruce. Is the man ****ing insane? We've got ONE winger in the ENTIRE SQUAD capable of playing at a standard we aim to achieve. I'm not talking about Elmo here, obviously, i'm talking about Sessegnon < You know that guy we don't play on the wing?! We've got to get some attacking talents in the squad and it'll be absolutely necessary to get rid of some of the grafters.

I sort of agree with this, we totally lack creativity and imagination in the midfield and are full of grafters. I question Brucie's transfer business this summer there seems to have been little thought gone into our recruitment policy this time around.

I would of rather of seen us going for quick, skillful players who love to get the ball and create things (like Sess) than a bunch of grafters. Look at Everton they have Arteta and Cahill, Spurs have Kranjcar, Bale, Modric, Lennon. Don't get me wrong you need a balance and I think we have that graft now in Colback and Vaughan who can both rarely waste the ball but do we actually need Catts and Gardner? You could actually add Larsson to that as we have no aerial threat.

Bruce's plan was to buy any midfielder that was cheap and available. We've now got a whole heap of central midfielders and, to be honest, they're all grafters rather than players with skill and/or creativity (i've not seen anything of Vaughan like, but he can't hardly be what we need or he'd have played already?). We had four midfielders our there yesterday and it could be argued all of them were central midfielders, certainly none of them are natural wide players. Would it not have made more sense to Sign Kranjar rather than Gardner and Vaughan? Catts and Kranjar in the middle sounds tasty to me. I can't state with mere words how poor that midfield was yesterday. Colback, Catts and Gardner were shocking, but it was hardly their fault because we can't expect them to provide the attacking ability in midfield. We need only one of those three on the field. We need Sess in midfield and we need to sign another player of his ilk. We then, depending on whether Wickham and/or Ji are good enough, sign another top class striker. Say, for example, Adam Johnson! :)

    -----------------Wickham-------------------
    -----------------Gyan-----------------------
    Johnson-Catts-----Larsson--Sessegnon

What the hell we do with Gardner, Colback, Vaughan, Meyler i've no idea. Maybe sell Cattermole, to help fund purchase of top class left winger, and put Gardner in the side.

I agree we are stuck with a load of central midfielders who are pretty much similar. Personally I think Colback is the one we should definitely not be moving on, the lad has great potential and rarely wastes the ball if we had someone with abit of a creative spark alongside him like Kranjcar and a fast, energetic, attacking winger with Sess on the other side and Gyans international team mate Asamoah in a free role behind Gyan we would see some good times at SAFC.

Agree completely with the style of play and team set-up you're describing. Last season i thought that's exactly what Bruce was trying to create at SAFC. Now i realise he's just trying to turn us into another lower end PL team just hoping to survive in the PL. Creating a team not to lose with no thought at all to how we'll play football. It's really depressing. I hope Bruce can work some miracles in the last few days of the transfer window and get some pace and skill in that midfield, but i'm not sure he even sees the problem.

Let me say this, if Bruce continues with Catts, Colback, Gardner and Larsson in some midfield four denomination, this is going to be one tough, tough season and could end really, REALLY bad!

Catts needs moved on and sharpish! The ma.. I mean boy is a complete liability! I'd rather have colback in the middle as opposed to on the wing and try one of the new the new young un's. From what iv seen written by gooner's on other message boards that deacon looks a decent player. No harm having em on the bench, it's gotta be a better option than 3 forwards on the bench and none on the pitch ;-)

Catts has been superb so far, wins the ball, gives it sensibly and is solid. I think Garender will come good next to him and start getting goals, Sess is creative so is Larson although less so. We need 1 more and I think Krancjar would be perfect.

We have created a lot of chances, what we need is a goal scorer like: Phillips, Bent etc..

I would like Defoe or this Cisse bloke.

Not Croach not Bendner, we need a goal scorer.

no chance levy would entertain swapping defoe and kranjcar for gyan, well not if he was watching gyan yesterday, but i think wednesday's transfer deadline day will be very intresting for fans in sunderland and newcastle, very intresting indeed

I agree with you about Catts, that's why i always have him in my team sheets. I've defended from the beginning, even when he went through his ropy patch and everyone was on his case. The problem is here though is Bruce has cram packed the squad with grafters, i don't know what Bruce is doing. We can hardly sell Gardner nor Vaughan considering we've just bought them. Bruce has ****ED UP BIG TIME, and it's because of Bruce we'll have to let Catts go. We need 2-3 attacking talents brought in desperately.

Vaughan is cover for when Catts is injured/suspended. Gardener and Colback will fight out the other place. We have just the right number of CM's

    Right: Elmo, Larson
Left: Sess we need another here.

You need 2 players for every position.
