We´re going to play well and get nowt
Many times on our travels this year,
For yesterday wasn´t the rout
Many feared that it might appear
But the margin for success is small
A spilt second´s all it can take,
A tackle or an unfortunate fall
And the ref´s a decision to make
I think this one he did get right
Well at least, the penalty part,
The red, when it came was a fright
And finally tore us apart
But up until then all I saw
Was an even match heading its way,
To what would have been quite a fair draw
Based on chances and run of the play
So bearing in mind the two teams
One newly promoted, and one,
Expected to have title dreams
We can be proud of what they have done
We gave´em a scare for a while
I´m sure even they would admit,
And matched them for fight and for guile
And uneased them more than a bit
To hell with the result, in a way
Our play was what mattered and it´s back,
From what we saw there yesterday
We´re as good as the rest of the pack
As the next three games could well show
Two at home, and the other up north,
They could just help our points to grow
If the players keep showing their worth
But a hell of a lot they can take
From Stamford Bridge this August day,
As we all now head for a break
