If it was a deliberate attempt to drive another car off the track (regardless of who was driving that car) then he should be disqualified from the race tomorrow. That sort of behaviour is not accepted in any circumstances. As Hamilton said in qualifying conference, the red flag was out, there should have been no reason for racing. Maldonado should have stayed behind him, or if he did want to go past, knowing Hamiltons reputation he should have stayed as far to the right as possible. It looks like Hamilton came round the corner started to follow the dry line, saw Maldonado approaching fast, moved over for him, then maybe started to move back towards the dry line thinking he'd have gone past, however Maldonado was obviously forcing Hamilton onto the wet part of the track, maybe trying to make him spin off, or he was aiming for him deliberately, or they both slipped on the wet track, whatever the reason for the collision it was Maldonado that put himself in that situation, not Hamilton. I know the Hamilton haters are saying it was his fault, but if it happened to Hamilton it could happen to any other driver, remember that. If you take the biased view it was Hamiltons fault, what if Maldonado then does that to your favourite driver?
Both your comments made me laugh, thanks for cheering me up after an appalling performance from the Mercedes team mechanics working on Michael's car, potential deadly incident to be serious.
Don't think Mansell has done him any favours in the past.............. He certainly has been shown no mercy from McNish. Come on Fred, you really, really, really, really want a penalty for Hamilton. That would make your day!
Any news of a fine for Mercedes? Last few teams that have let cars out with wheels not attached properly got fines.
Not saying that. I just want him not to get a warning for once. Its like the stewards are scared to give him one. The race weekend is pretty much over anyway, I doubt Alonso could get much higher than 4th. If he does then i'll be happy, heres hoping for a Webber win. I dont think either should get a penalty, and people should really see it wasnt done on purpose.
Seems reasonable enough to me. Nothing too drastic or knee-jerk reactions. Now we can hopefully look forward to the race tomorrow....Unless we have some closet Maldonado fans that have an axe to grind.
Does anyone want to try and explain the point of reprimands? As far as I can tell it is just pretty much this:
Don't see why Lewis is being reprimanded, or why Maldonado is allowed to race after deliberately driving into the side of Hamilton.
Ah, so you are simply an old-skool Hamilton hating Alonso fan! He does get a fair amount of penlaties, so to say he should nto get a reprimand for a change is a bit blinkered.
Id be furious if they got different penalities. If they are both at fault, they should be penalised in the same way. But then the stewards have been a bit inconsistent. Ill be hoping Lewis gets a 10 place penalty so that my boys are promoted to 7th and 8th.
