Brundle has just said on BBCF1 that Webber has re-signed with RBR for 2012. Fitting on his 35th birthday. I'll post more news as it comes.

Whiney Webber sepnds 2 years whining, bitching and moaning into any camera he can find about how unfair RBR are too him, then jumps at the chance to sign a new contract every chance he gets, Mr 2 face. Should've given the seat to Ricciardo

I've grown to like Webber over the last few years, but you're right. He can't complain about his treatment when he's signed again knowing full well that the team are fully behind Vettel.

I knew there was a reason I shouldn't have posted this. Ah well, if I didn't someone else would have. He didn't jump at the opp to sign a contract. Quite the opposite, in fact. There was months of speculation and talks.

I am pleased at this news, I like Webber I think he is a good driver and seems like a decent guy so I am very happy he has extended his stay with Red Bull.

Vettel will be happy with Webber resigning, as he really is no threat to him. I would liked to have seen a midfield driver get Webbers seat.

Er Miggins, you're hardly one to talk about bitching and moaning..About 80% of your posts (give or take) are you whinging about Webber, who most people on here seem to like and I don't remember the last time Webber whinged at anyone. He admits to his own mistakes but if someone is at fault he'll tell them but never makes a huge deal about it. Really don't see what your problem is with him.

With the excitement of the Belgian Grand Prix, I didn't pay much attention to this before. I'm happy for Webber and I believe he deserves another season in a top car. I know he's only beaten Vettel once this year and he's yet to win a race this season, but I'm convinced that he will be a lot better next year. He shouldn't have problems with the tyres like he did at the start of this season and the ban on EBD's should help him.

Unfortunately for him, Vettel is clearly the team favourite - which makes me wonder why he re-signed with Red Bull. Were his choices limited to Red Bull and a midfield team? If so, has Webber signed a contract which makes him (to some degree) a no.2 driver?

Marko could have chosen one of his academy boys, all of whom would happily sign as a no.2 driver if it meant they got to drive a Red Bull. I think either Marko managed to sign Webber as a no.2 driver, or Red Bull realise the importance of winning the Constructors and signed the driver who can guarantee the team consistently strong results. I'd say it's probably the latter.

I know at one point he was in talks with Ferrari. It's a shame that a deal wasn't possible there, because I think Ferrari will be a better option for Webber than Red Bull; and Webber will be a better option for Ferrari than Massa.

Hasn't Dr. Marko already decreed that next year will be Webber's last? Can't stop him signing elsewhere though, can he?

Really funny how 'Resigning' (Signing again) and 'Resigning' (As in accepting fate (that he's gonna never beat Vettel)) have the same spelling.

I want to see DiResta in a Red Bull for 2013, it be like an old reunion between Seb and Paul. My guess is that Red Bull will probably find a driver that isnt a threat to Sebastian like Jamie, Felipe or Riccado.

Another season of being a number two driver for Webber then.

Love the guy, but this season hasn't done his rep any good - think he might be "over the hill" now.

They were never gonna sign a driver that would be a threat to Vettel were they.

Could've seen Schumacher there actually. The team is all about sponsoring for the drink product and having Michael Schumacher would have improved that.

And though Schumacher knows he couldn't beat Vettel he would at least be able to win a few races which would be better than what he has now.

Vettel would know Shumacher was no threat to him and it would boost his reputation to beat him in a championship car.

I hope Hamilton goes there for 2013, with Di Resta replacing him at McLaren and Kubica replacing Massa. Would be a really exciting line up, especially if the top three teams were evenly matched.

Marko has said that if anyone replaces Webber in 2013, it will be one of their juniors
