This is where I mentioned the rights and wrongs in the OP. We'll argue all day about who's done what but have to move on to get back to normal.

Not sure what the fuss is with @DMD being a mod, I've been on this site for years and I've never had any run-ins. Those who seem to have issues with him all seem to be from the political threads, I'm not taking sides cos I like most folk off there anyway but surely we can all see the problem here?

If those threads are moved to another part of the forum it doesn't make it harder for it's users to find it and use it.

On the other hand the PL board should have its off-topic allowance too cos it's not fun for the likes of Skids to chat football when his team are being humiliated on a regular basis.

The board doesn't need modded, but if it's going to be modded then so be it, I'd rather an impartial hopeless Hull fan than a Spurs fan any day, otherwise we'd end up with a shrine to Harry Kane and nobody would be able to say a bad word about them.

 

So far, other than tidying up after a petulant banned user I've edited a post of Duncan Donuts for posting personal info on Spurlock, and asked him and Fan to draw a line under their feud. Where's the bias?

And you should be able to post that without it being mental and bans being thrown around or the thread being moderated.

 

In summary, you clearly have a blinkered view because it is your 'chums' that have been judged to have crossed the line.

How can you set a tolerance level for personal abuse? You either allow it or you don't. If it is stopped, most here won't be able to string a sentence together.

As for the recent trouble. Perhaps it would have been avoided if some hadn't put so much effort into merging the politics thread, GC and rest of the PL forum.

Exactly, some will back you some will think you're being a twat despite of your actual intentions. It's a terrible starting point.

I get on with those banned but look back and you'll see I get on with pretty much everyone. My interest is in getting the board back to what it was and that includes certain people back.
I said in the OP that linking to GC will have to stop. This will take an effort from all sides, we should be able to disagree without a mod or SM banning or editing threads.

This very point was made by brb when he first started coming over here, and he told those who didn’t like the idea of that to **** off back to their cosseted club boards, that’s how it should be and where it should go back to.

That’s the point. The board was always unmodernised. It should remain so.

 

Then **** off if you don't want to be part of a moderated forum. Simple really.

 

So if brb really wanted a mod on here that it should be anonymous so that people don't have an opinion on that person's agenda from the start. Personally I don't think we need a mod. The are lots of reasons as to why it got to this point and it's not all down to posters crossing lines.
