Even with Brewster being promoted, I don't think he'll go. Bobby, Ings, Solanke & Brewster is alright. Really depends on Ings and if he can return to scoring goals like he did at Burnley.

Would like Ings to be given another year with Liverpool. Injuries have not been kind to him.

I think he fits the Klopp back-up striker role perfectly. He just needs to add a few goals.

Oh, definitely agree with that. I don't think we will want him to leave but from his perspective, he needs to play games.

I like Ings and would love him to be a success with us but he's never getting picked ahead of Bobby.

Edit... having said that, I was similar with Borini. I just have a liking for players that put 100% effort in. Lucas, Kuyt, Mascherano, Hendo, Bobby, Suarez, Ings, etc. Love'em!

We can't go into next season with just Firmino, Ings, Solanke and Brewster! <yikes>

Brewster at best will be getting a 10min cameo here and there or maybe a cup game. Solanke I really don't see much in to think he'll be anything more than a bench option and as much as I like Ings, there's huge question marks over if he'll even get into good shape to start (and finish) multiple games in a row

I wonder if Grujic will be kept. Still think he could be a good player if he controlled himself a bit more. Suffers from a bit of the "Deli Ali's" at times and loses it with wild challenges.

IMO he's doing enough at cardiff to suggest to me at least that he will be looked at carefully in preseason next summer to see if he fits the roles required. No 6 is the location we need him in so if he's adpated more to pace of game I'm sure he will get a chance. I could see him back out on loan equally.

    1 player.

    a) what if he got injured?
    b) what if salah got injured?

would you be happy going into CL group stages/ last 16 or QF with ings, solanke and brewster as your only options?

Lets be quite frankly as a side with 6 teams for 4 CL spots in the league NEVER MIND THE CL... we we ended up with ings/solanke as our no 9 for 3 months we would be bottom of the pile.

We are talking about a lad who's gone and done his knee twice and hasn't proven his fitness at all and a kid who's struggled to make an impact... and to top it off a 17 year old who's barely even played for u23s.

Ings and Solanke simply aren’t adequate for where want to be.

We should be investing heavily in a player who can play out wide or up front. Someone who will rotate with the front 3. Timo Werner makes perfect sense.

Liverpool are plotting a surprise move for FC Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas next summer. According to recent reports, FC Porto wants to part ways with the Spanish goalkeeper who is currently the second choice keeper at the club and their decision is mainly due to Financial Fair Play reasons as they can’t afford to pay his high wages. Casillas is likely to fancy a move to England’s top tier and is confident about his chances of having a go in Premier League football.

AS Roma have set a £52m asking price for goalkeeper Alisson this summer as he continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool FC, according to reports in Italy.

Napoli midfielder Jorginho has hinted he would like to play in a side who play football like Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

The Italian international has been linked with a move to Liverpool, with suggestions the club have identified him as a possible summer target to bolster the midfield.

Although he did not name Liverpool by name, the Serie A star coyly admits the kind of football implemented at Anfield - as well as Manchester City, under Pep Guardiola - would be something he would enjoy.

"I think that I could fit (in the Premier League)," he told reporters. "It depends on who else is around me - I need players with the same characteristics that I have.

Where do we fit all of these players in?
Provided they're all here next season, the current front three will be the preferred option. How many high-profile strikers are going to want to come and get a few minutes here and there just to be available if we have injuries?

we need 23 actual options = a back up real option for every position plus one exta keeper

so lets just look at city as the best team in england

gk: ederson, bravo. no.3 = kid
    Rb: walker, Danilo
    LB mendy, Delph!
    CB: Stones Laporte (signed)
    CB: Komany, otamendi
    CM: fernandinho, gundogan
    CM De bruyne, Toure
    CM Silva, Zinchenko
    LW sane Bernardo silva
    RW sterling foden
    ST: aguero Jesus

The point her would be city have not quite ogt the perfect set up but they have options every where due to flexibility

    now look at LFC

    GK: karius, mingolet, ward
RB: Clyne( injured) Gomez, TAA (steps up to take slot)
    LB: Robertson, Moreno
    CB: Matip/Lovern
    CB: VVD (signed jan) Klavan
    CM: Hnderson, Can
    CM Milner, OX
    CM Wijnalum, Lallana (injured)
    LW: Mane
ST: Firmino, ings, sturridge (gone), Solanke
    RW Salah.

Lets see what competition has done for us at LB: robertson pushing hard and moreno not able to get back in. LFC are the better for this

We got lucky with clyne injury that two yuong talents stepped up and we did't need to buy.
Lallana's injury was unplanned so we have been covering this for 4/5months with others rotating.

Lets just look at that forward line again.

    1. Coutinho sold
    2. Any time salah or mane are out firmino moves wide.. we don't have someone to bring in there. at best ox or lallana are pushed forard and thats not great
    3. firmino not injured thankfully.

So... city lose jesus for 2 months. Aguero plays. they are not weakened. My view is we are lucky firmino has not been injured etc as if he goes out then its ings and only ings to come in. Same for salah if he goes down we can't replace those goals!

If LFC want to be a top side then IMO we need to sign for competition and for cover.

If we have two top strikers then IMO firmino could be shunted wide left if mane is off form or injured OR we might try a 4231 with firmino at no 10 OR we might just stick that forward on the bench.

My point would be. that forward will push for his starting place. That will make the rest of them better. which is good for LFC.

who's pushing mane or salah today? nobody.

    Agree.

Ings, nice lad, works hard but he is pretty unlucky. I think personally he should do a jay rod and move and get himself game time. Nothing wrong with him, lot of respect for his efforts but there you go.

If he wants to hang round imo the best he can do is LW back up slot and cover as 3rd striker.

I don't mind who we buy if klopp gets who he wants.

Solanke needs a loan and he needs to drive himself. we cannot give him enough time to fully develop from a bench. Origi as been so disappointing in his efforts this year on loan. its his career but he is not impressing.

You can't compare us with a team who can blow us out of the water with spending power.
This seems more fantasy football than reality. By that I mean constructing a squad according to your footballing criteria without taking account of the real-world difficulties in building it.
My initial question stands - how many top-quality attackers are going to be content to sit on our bench and await their opportunity knowing that the current lot are so well-favoured?
What we need, and what we are likely to be able to get, are two different things. At least when it comes to ready-made, big name players.
