This is true, but then Torres has shown almost nothing of his old self over the last season. He still adds a lot with his pace and movement, but unless he gets his goalscoring form back he will never make enough of a contribution to justify a place in the team of a club that should be challenging for the title.
In fairness I was countering District Line's equally incorrect post, and I may have overdone it a bit, though I'm not sure I was far off.
Very true. Never thought much of Torres before he came to us, he WAS a class goal scorer but £50m was a farce. I do however hope he does find that goal scoring form back now we have a player like Mata.
He'll get it back. Great strikers never lose the ability of putting the ball in the net. It's instinct to him. Everything he needs is there except his confidence really. I just hope he lasts a bit longer without a goal, though I feel he may score tomorrow.
True, I have a feeling once he scores his first he won't stop! Then again, I did say that when he scored against West Spam!!
When he starts to score.. hopefully he wont stop. When we played stoke, we saw the old torres. He was brilliant and though he didnt score he helped the team a lot. I think with AVB coming in creating a managerial change this will help him and also to get a good pre season under his belt will help him...
I said in the EPL, now go do your research again. thanks. And While Torres doesnt have as much to his game as rooney, thats because hes a goalscorer, and thats it. obviously hes on a bad patch right now, but if he gets his form back ( which he probably will ) He'll score quite a few more than rooney in my opinion.
"How are the 'best' players in the league always foreign? That is opinion and is clearly not unbiased. " How is that opinion not unbiased? im not taking any sides im just saying how it is. Name me one english player in the last 20 years who has been better than ronaldo, cantona, bergkamp, thierry henry. Secondly yes rooney has scored more goals than torres in the last 2 seasons, albeit the only reason for that is firstly because torres was playing without any of his confidence and secondly because he was playing for a very bad liverpool side at the time. If he picks up the pace this season with chelsea we could easily see him back to his best. And yes rooneys game isnt all about scoring goals, but whats that matter? every striker has there job, and while rooney has been better in the last 2 seasons, i could easily say torres was better the 2 seasons before that, its not an argument, any player can lose form at any time and they can also regain it when you least expect.
Alan Shearer, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes, Wayne Rooney are all within a shout. Nothing you say is fact you clown that is an opinion. Rooney has a better all round game than Torres. He brings more people into the game than Torres does and has scored more goals than Torres in this league as well as more assists. Arguably Rooney has had a bigger impact on his team than Torres has on his.
