    Friday 30th March 2018, 5:30pm
    Madejski Stadium, Reading
    58 minutes drive along the M4.
    1h28 by train, via Paddington then bus 50a from Reading station to the stadium.
    43.3 mile bike ride. This one is actually doable, plus you'll get to see Slough.

    Previous meetings;
    Games played : 91
    Won : 30
    Drawn : 22
    Lost : 39

    Ones to forget :
    31 Mar 1934 Reading v Queens Park Rangers L 5-0 Division Three (South)
    23 Sep 1964 Reading v Queens Park Rangers L 4-0 League Cup
    16 Feb 2014 Queens Park Rangers v Reading L 1-3 League Championship

    Ones to remember :
    20 Oct 2009 Queens Park Rangers v Reading W 4-1 League Championship
    03 Oct 1960 Queens Park Rangers v Reading W 5-2 League Division Three
    17 Mar 1958 Queens Park Rangers v Reading W 3-0 Division Three (South)

    I feel like we have played Reading a lot in my time of following QPR (since the mid 90's) but interesting to note we played them once, in 1987 from 1967 to 1996, and have then played them 26 times since 96.

    Unsurprisingly given how close the clubs are to each other, and that we have played at the same level so often, there are a fair few who have played for both clubs;

    Kaspars Gorkss, Alex McCarthy, Jamie Mackie, Anton Ferdinand, Mikele Leigertwood, Kevin Doyle, Matt Connolly, Les Ferdinand, Steven Kelly and Steve Morrow.

    Preview;
    Having lost two and drawn two in March, and won just won game in their last 18 matches, Reading used the international break to make a change at the top, with Jaap Stam being shown the door. Having lost in the playoff final last year, after finishing 3rd, it seems that Reading have not been able to recover from that disappointment as they find themselves two places and three points off relegation. Paul Clement was quickly installed as Reading's new boss, having been sacked by by Swansea last December when they were bottom of the Premiership, and having been sacked by Derby due to, according to their chairman, boring football, and not enough progess being made under his watch. He also spent time as Chelsea's assistant manager, and helped them win the league in 2010, so decision made, I don't like him.

    We, on the other hand, seemed to have a turn in fortune during March. We have drawn two, beaten Sunderland, and had a very good win at Villa Park. Wheeler and Hall remain our only long term injures (got there in the end). Smyth will be hoping his fine form continues, having scored an 86th minute winner for Northern Ireland at the weekend, just four minutes after coming on. I am only hoping the fine form continues into a busy April, where we have six games, including a local derby against Brentford. This will be a popular away match for QPR, with around 3000 fans expected to make the short trip to Reading on Friday evening.

    Also had a quick look on google maps for any decent looking pubs for pre-games drinks. There is a McD's and a KFC not too far from the ground, but otherwise all I can see on the map are businesses and shops. There is a Nuffield Health, Fitness and Wellbeing Gym where you stand a good chance of getting a few pre-match pints of celery, cucumber or spinach juice.

    I read he is close to a suspension as he is on 9 yellow cards and my head translated that to a long-term injury. Why don't kids just sleep through the night when they are sick? Thanks for pointing it out Oslo, edited the OP accordingly.

    shame I will miss this one. Last week their plastic fans were crying about the state of the club and relegation. Since Clement has come in they all seem to be saying the will beat us 3 and 4 - 0. Deluded muppets. Lets hope Hollow doesnt start messing around with the team. They have been shocking recently so maybe spured by the new manger bounce. I expect if we score they will go back to still being s@@t.

    Should be a good one. Got my tickets but now we’ve got the extra allocation there should be plenty available on the day.

    Hopefully will be a bit lively with the late KO (why??). I’ll be starting early :emoticon-0168-drink

    It would be a shame to lose but more because it’s an important three points for them. There’s no real pressure on us- we can just all have a lovely time.

    If we win, however, I’ll be windmilling all the way back to Brackers.

    Seeing as Luongo played for the Socceroos in Colombia last night, I doubt if he'll be ready for Friday. I think the starting Xl will probably be something like this ...

    Mass played at Craven Cottage. He gave his Aus shirt to R fans. Perhaps he's busslagged.
