Tuesday's Meetings Southwell A/W 8 Races 2:00-5:30p.m. Hereford N/H 7 Races 2:15-5:15p.m. Newcastle(E) A/W 6 Races 5:40-8:10p.m. Racecards At The Races Racing Post Sporting Life Good Luck
The 16.00 Southwell interests me. Mister Music is 4 from 4 since switching to the fibre sand. In a higher class than this he ran a fast time but was carrying 2 stone less than he carries tomorrow. Volatile, on the other hand has clocked a fast time over 6f on the course, carrying just a few pounds less than he carries tomorrow (Costello on board who rides tomorrow). Not too sure if he will prefer the 7f given he just lasted home over C&D last time. Mister Music always seems to dwell at the start but finishes off his races well, so it could be interesting. I'm in danger of thinking this is a 2 horse race so will look at the other runners tonight. Will be interesting to see the early odds. Edit. Having studied the rest of the runners and almost finished updating this, my laptop died on me and I lost all I had typed. (When will I learn not to risk that? ) In a nutshell a couple of these have run against both Mister Music and Volatile and the former comes out poorly on this form. I think some of these are well held by Volatile. Holiday Magic, Hammer Gun and Treaty of Rome are weighted to reverse form with Mister Music. I think Mister Music has no chance unless he can overcome his habitual slow start. Holiday Magic looks to be the main danger to Volatile. Spare Parts is consistent but looks to have a stiff task here Conclusion. Having thought this was Volatile's race I'm now not so sure as Holiday Magic, Hammer Gun and Treaty of Rome are all better than their form figures would indicate and I will therefore will leave it alone. What a waste of time
Cracking weekend of racing this weekend a lot it from a watching spectacle rather then a punting but some good ones to really get stuck into in the ones that are Good Friday aw championships, Dubai World Cup, a couple of grade ones at fairy house on Easter Day then the Irish National on the Monday with a side dish of plumpton on the Sunday and Monday
But even the plumpton cards will be good with the sussex champion hurdle and the sussex champion chase which is 0-145 so will have some decent horses in there
Ron , your post made me laugh , it's a thing i do , look at a race , think i've got a handle on it , look again and completely take a different view , then it's time to leave alone , so i've took the same view !! However i do like Three Ways 4/1 in the 2 45 Hereford , this front runner should go well here , has form in the book .The race after sees Jurby 2/1 a decent price really , against an odds on from a stable really struggling for form , i'm doubling him with Amulateum 5/4 in 7 15 Newcastle, hopefully they can oblige !
4.15 Hereford- ACT NOW-11/2 Won this race last year, had a similar prep to this too showing absolutely nothing. Didn’t see out the trip out lto but ran well at plumpton off this mark against a well handicapped Gary Moore horse. The blinkers go on for the first time and this looks have to been the plan!
I see Jennys entered in two races on Saturday in Haydock and one on Sunday in Ffos Las. I imagine Haydock will be the first option.
The trainer wants to see which looks the easiest option. Initially he was fancying the Ffos Las option but having looked at the three I reckon the most valuable of the three, The Staying Chase at Haydock, looks the most winable. Lets see what he decides.
Those bookie chappies are giving absolutely nothing away re that valuable staying chase at Haydock on Saturday. William Hill are currently quoting single figure prices re 10 horses in it! 8’s the best available re your mare. Fergal O’Brien just 1/18 this past fortnight though. Still I’m sure he’ll improve on this prior to the weekend – especially as I seriously rate one of his due to hit the track prior to the weekend (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more…).
And Bath Racecourse have got almost £180k in prizemoney up for grabs on Good Friday as well. It’s not very often you get to say Bath Racecourse and £180k in the same breath.
Dastardly handicapper has put her up two pounds today! Obviously the Ffos Las race is working out a bit too well for his liking. I think I am right in saying that the rise wont take effect until after the weekend.
two pounds on a half ton horse is not a big deal though , she could lose or gain ten times that due to diet / excercise , six pounds is the average horse dump ! more concerning is the form of the fancied horses recently , although yesterday the two unfabcied ones ran well , especially the bumper runner , but the fav bennechenko was the first beaten ......
Rudey I always thought a horse having a dump prior to a race was not a good sign. However it didn't do Footpad any harm prior to his Arkle romp
Another angle to consider is that more weight can also mean more momentum, so long as you're not running uphill.
never take note of when a horse poops , the point is a 6lb turd out of the system negates a 2lb piece of lead ..... although some will say one is a dead weight and the other a live one !! if a horse is twenty kg above its racing weight , then it makes a mockery of handicapping , i'm sure this is how a lot of trainers do their adjusting before landing a touch !
3.00 while I think Ruth carrs horse is a worthy favourite I think the old boy novabridge still has some life in him and with a 7lb claimer up I think he's worth a go Sent from my Redmi 4X using Tapatalk
