There is one running tomorrow, from the county, who is by supersire, Galileo, out of the Group 1 winning mare, Red Evie. This makes the animal in question also a full brother to wonder filly, Found, who triumphed at both the Breeders Cup and in the Arc. I’m sure if I asked, the membership, where he was going to run most would say, ‘in an above average all-weather maiden, I suspect. What, what?!?’ or ‘an early Pattern affair on the old continent, I’d say’. But no the answer amazingly is off 104 in a novice handicap hurdle at Chepstow (4.35). In this contest, Iniesta, for it is he I’ve been talking, has his second run for the Blake barn (and first in a handicap) after previously been trained by both the O’Brien twins (Aidan and Fergal) and Ryan’s Pa, Gary. Surely the most eyecatching runner of the day and deffo not running in the sort of heat he was bred for, methinks. Given my views on races run in the Isle, in the NH sphere, worth less than £10k, I won’t be getting involved but will certainly be looking out to see how Iniesta fares with keen interest. He’s only 4 rivals, tomorrow, but these include animals who’s connections include Neil ‘Mullers’ Mulholland and the forum fave, the 11th richest man in Wales. Good luck, troops.
Maybe Iniesta is akin to the footballing namesake - nae fooking hair and slow as fook - as some of our Scottish friends might say?

Only saying because I note the Lieutenant and Mr Ponsonby have got the unraced 4YO Commander Miller entered. I’m not going to use that terrible forum cliché, ‘I’ve been told…’, because frankly I haven’t but Commander Miller is of huge interest to me. ‘The Weekender’ though tip the Lieutenant’s other horse in the race (Jen’s Boy) so maybe The Commander isn’t even his number one!
I nearly took a leg in this horse Barney....until I realised how much Ponsonby was ripping the general public off for the pleasure of having a horse at Seven Barrows. Lovely NH pedigree and as you say the sibling was very nice and won on debut. Not stood much racing since mind.
HERECOMESTHEBOOM 2/1 Ludlow 5:50 Each time I go to this yard he is the horse that I want to take home. Only did a single spin today but looked in very good nick. He missed the Festival Bumper last week with a self cert but he seems perfectly fine now. His trainer thinks a lot of him and seems pretty confident he can a penalty to victory before having another go in top company at Aintree. You need to forgive a below par effort behind Didtheyleaveuoutto at Ascot but trust me, he is way better than he showed that day! please log in to view this image

Steady on, old boy, you can’t blame Mr Ponsonby for wanting to make a living. We all have to eat and all that. Plus don’t forget you are also paying for Mr Ponsonby’s expert handling of the syndicate. That alone is priceless. Commander Miller cost £22,000, a year ago, I won’t ask what he was charging! I see Iniesta has drifted out to 14’s in a 5 horse field. I think it’s safe to say that if today was expected to be THE day then he wouldn’t be 14/1 in a 5 horse field! He has though got a flat perch of just 67 and given his lineage that could be the area to exploit. One to watch today, as said before, with keen interest. For those who like the names and maybe a bit of spookiness, re there wagers, also at Chepstow in the ‘lucky last’, an hour after Iniesta, runs Barcalona (5.35) – a mare having her first run for Colin Tizzard. How strange and perhaps unnerving. The double re the pair pays 254/1 for anyone either very optimistic / in need of a straightjacket (delete as appropriate).
Some eye-watering odds-on runners today. Tree of Liberty 1/33, Michael's Mount 2/11, Kupatana 4/9 A £5 treble on those would return a whopping £8.79 Surely, it's bad for money into a sport so dependent on gambling when such obvious mismatches in form are being run.

Smokey, that's one of my many cliff horses. Have backed him many, many times in the staying handicap chases. Welsh national, Midlands national etc, with some success. ( Won the Midlands 2 years ago at 16/1 ). He seems out of love with the game at the minute, but very well handicapped if on a going day. Good luck with him, I'm sure I'll buckle at some stage and throw a few quid on him!!
