That's more or less what most of the comments under the article on the BBC have said, although the problem has been mentioned in the past by Fergie and most famously by Roy Keane in his prawn sandwich rant.
It's an issue in English football at the moment, unfortunately. Treat the fans like customers and they'll act like customers.
Nobody treats their support like customers more than Utd, they are the major brand in English football and lost part of their identity when they dropped the words "football club" from their club badge not long after the birth of the Premier League.
