Well the Mercs 1st & 2nd, Button 3rd but you can't judge anything from this first practice with the rain & stopages.

Did any body listen to radio one this morning?

Chris Moyles and Jake Humphry were saying DC looks like Kryton from Red Dwarf! <laugh>

Yeah I noticed that as well. Red Bull have a low downforce rear wing but Ferrari are using a slightly tweaked version of the wing they tested in Hungary. That would suggest Ferrari are running more downforce, but Webber was king in Sector 2, 4 tenths quicker than anyone else. Vettel's best lap came on the medium tyres, but did Vettel use the option tyres at any point? He did a very quick first sector.

They look like strong contenders for pole position. McLaren don't look as good as I expected but there's only so much you can read into practice. Davidson said "I think the Ferraris should be pretty strong here." - I'm not so sure. Any thoughts on this?

From what i saw, the Ferrari seems good enough for pole in Alonso's Hands. Vettel didn't do a lap on the soft tyres. Also, mercedes may be a suprise package.

Petrov didn't get the chance to show what the car was capable of.

I'd be very surprised if Renault have fallen behind Sauber and Force India.

Well Senna was faster in the wet than Petrov and while Petrov did not get a dry time in Q2 Senna only got one proper lap in as well.

I think the Renault is suffering on the straights, they are about 16kph slower that the fastest car.

I think Ferrari (Alonso) look quite stong although the cool conditions might hamper them, especially in quali. Mclaren look strong and I expect either Hamilton or Button to get pole. Red Bull seem to be testing a very skinny rear wing to try and give themselves more speed on the straights but if it rains then that might scupper that idea. Mercedes and Force India also look pretty strong at this stage.

Nah, Vettel only used the primes.

Well then bloody hell...

Sector 1
Vettel - 32.008
Button - 32.319
Alonso - 32.339
Webber - 32.496

How did he do that on primes?

Surely that must be car related rather than driver performance because there is not much a driver can do to make a difference in sector 1 apart from La Source.
