I have lost a lot of respect for Rat Face, he is just another greedy mercenary, whatever he says its all about money for him. I dont really care if we sell him or not, but I do care who we sell him to, he has to be sold abroad and not to the vulgar and disgusting Abramovich or any other English team. Refusing to sell to Fulham`s Sugar Daddy FC in particular will be a statement of intent against tapping up and Billionaires and their hobbies. If we must sell to Chelsea then I hope we really take them to the cleaners for £40m plus.

<doh>

Notso, I agree and I've stated this point about wages in other threads. However there are players that will improve us as well as providing competition for places. Players such as damaio, Ruiz and Marin have all been mentioned. The first two are valued between 12 and 18 mill and won't break our wage cap. My point is that we have got to spend something and have a stab, based on some careful thinking. After last seasons poor strike rate from all our forwards, these two can't do any worse. Ruiz is scoring non stop at the moment and can play as a winger as well as a striker. This gives Aaron Lennon some competition and helps us in an area where we're short. Damaio is getting a lot of attention and after another abysmal performance from pav again tonight, he has got to be worth it for 15-18 mill. That's not a great deal of money in the current market. If we're not going to spend that, well it's back to the question about ambition. I've lost all confidence in pav and agreed with Andy Townsend (for once) in the sense that he doesn't look bothered. Marko Marin could be a bit tougher. If Bremen were to sell, he's going to cost alot, maybe 25mill. but again his wages shouldn't be too much of an issue. ( that's if a previous post I read about him earning 45k p/w is true.)

Ruiz - cup tied in Europe now isn't he?

Damiao - yes, and if he replaces 'super Pav' well after tonight I would not be in the least bit bothered.

Marin - whilst undoubtedly a top class player, who I previously touted as a good buy if we were to see Modric go, he's a left winger apparently and would struggle to displace Bale in the side.

They were just examples DB. However, regardless of ruiz's status in Europe, we have adebayor now, and in my opinion need someone like him for the domestic competitions.

Apologies for the state of that last post. Still haven't got to grips with the iPhone app yet.

I accept your apologies for saying 'we have adebayor now' and thinking that makes everything alright.

Ruiz isn't fancied by Harry - perhaps the next manager will look at him, after all he'll have a transfer budget....

I know your not a fan mate, but there's no doubt about his ability to score goals. Again, he can't be any worse than what we saw last season in terms of goals at the club.

I would really like us to have a stab with damaio. He's rated highly and scores goals. Maybe another player or two like him, in different positions, that won't break the wage bill too. Not Joe bloody cole before u say anything! Haha

Oh dear. don't like what CB has to say. Why's that then? Oh, of course! it's because you're a Chelsea supporter.
I, and many other Spurs fans, agree with most of what was said. Modric & his "advisor" should be asamed of themselves over their behaviour. Modric in particular, threw all his toys out, and dumped his teamates and the club in the **** on Monday.
If it wasn't for your blatantly overt, illegal, tapping up operation, you might have actually had a bit more success in getting him. As it was, all you did was piss Levy off so badly that he's just dug his heels in.
I'm not saying you won't eventually get him. But, it will cost you, you can bet on that.

As I admitted before, no way near my first choice, but he can do a job and we do need something different up front so I'll reserve my judgement on him at spurs if not on him as a person in general.

And i can see Damiao joining us later (fingers crossed) like Sandro did. And I REALLY look forward to it.

As for mentioning JCole, its a good thing I'm a happy drunk or else the case of Becks I had tonight would be cause me to be raining down on various abusive missives upon ya!!!

I'm the same over his attitude and how he is as a person. I've only ever seen 1 interview where he seemed to show some qualities of a decent human- and those could have just been words to help clear his name. But we're stuck with him now and he's got a point to prove, so let's hope for the best.

I hope damaio will be like sandro too. If we get him that is. A decent price like sandro and we could be in for something special. Btw, that's a good example of a player we've had a "stab" at in the past.

Didn't realize u were a JC fan. Apologies. I used to be a huge admirer, but he's not a solution for us now in my opinion. Could be like "keano part 2". That's my concern.

Errrrr... I meant you were lucky I'm a happy drunk as just mentioning Joe ****ing Cole usually leads me into a rant about what an useless waste of space that ****ing **** is. so no need for the apologies on that score.

Didn't stay a happy drunk for long did you!

That's my point, why bring Chelsea into it or Abramovich? What have we done wrong or what has RA done wrong?

What have Chelsea done wrong??? Well let's start with the illegal tapping up of another teams player. Shouldn't be too hard to work out. The whole thing was blatantly a conspiracy between Chavski and Modrics' agent, using the Daily Fail as the mouthpiece. It is so blindingly obvious that Modric had been deliberately unsettled.
You chavs crack me up, you're forever doing things like this, and then trying the old "Who us?? what have we done wrong"?? bit.
Look Sherlock. Why do you think Levy was so pissed off, and issued such a strong statement?? Could it be he found out somebody was taking him for a mug?? I know, call him over sensitive. But, that's just the way he is.

There's even more to this though NSIS. The tapping up is clearly evident. we've seen other clubs report this sort of behaviour in the past. The modric "tapping up" and "unsettling" has been going on for 2 months.

how in this time period have we not done something to report chelsea for their actions if he genuinely is not for sale??. we should only have to say it once.

perhaps the reason why we haven't, is because he is going to be sold. therefore Daniel Levy can't take this procedure further.

it just seems odd that we've not done this to chelsea yet. it takes me back to another point i raised in another thread. i stated that perhaps it will go through, but right at the death, and this entire summer has been orchestrated from day 1, but there's a hidden agreement that states "let us keep him till the end of the window so we can show other players our intent and resiliance to draw them in by showing that we aren't going to sell him. Once we've completed the signings of those players then we'll sell."

Hold your horses and remove your tin foil hat, where is the proof to back up any claim we tapped up Modric?

As a Spurs fan, you are the last person that can accuse other teams of tapping up other players, that is hypocrisy of the highest order. Next you'll be telling me the world will come to an end on 21/12/12.

Your player, your problem. Not our fault you messed up your season and can't offer your players CL Footie <ok>

I'm sure that if we were determined enough to go looking for the proof, it wouldn't be too hard to find. It was nothing more than a crude, not very intelligently worked, tapping up, and unsettling, attempt. I should imagine that Levy felt insulted, as much as anything.

Chelsea FC, their manager José Mourinho and Arsenal FC's English international left-back Ashley Cole have all been fined heavily after the Premier League concluded their investigation into allegations the English champions made an illegal approach for Cole.

October, 2006: Chelsea reportedly offer £5 million compensation to Leeds and avoid action by the authorities after allegations of illegal approaches (which they denied) for Tom Taiwo and Michael Woods, who left the Leeds academy for Chelsea

Chelsea again found themselves in trouble when they were accused of illegally approaching Gael Kakuta from French club Lens. The West London club was reported for illegally signing the French youngster and was subsequently banned from signings any players for two transfer windows, but an appeal from Chelsea removed the sanctioned ban but was still ordered to pay Lens a compensation fee and fine in the region of £150,000.

We were only found guilty for the Ashley Cole incident and were rightly punished.

Bottom line is it goes on all the time in football, at all levels.

Jeez - how can anyone be so stupid? You don't get fined for doing nothing wrong! <doh>

Still no proof we did anything wrong <ok>

I suggest you look up the dictionary definition of the word. A fine is a money penalty, or punishment. As Ensil has said, you don't get penalised, or punished, if you haven't been proven to have done something wrong. All clear for you now??

You missed out Arnesen getting caught on camera by Panorama tapping up some Boro youngster.
Nothing happened to him.
