I'd be tempted to get rid of most of them. Dawson has for large parts looked poor. Build again, though I know it won't happen under the current owners. Watched the full Blackburn/Wigan game today. Both teams would I think finish further up the Championship table than us - both squads will have been assembled for a fraction of the cost of ours. I'd even get rid of some of the longer term contracted players if we got offers - some of them are a waste of a shirt. Build the team around Irvine, MacDonald, Bowen, Toral, Dicko and maybe even Mannion.
I think out of the players that's contracts expire in June, probably the only ones to be kept will be Moses, if he looks as if he is over his injury and Clark, if Clark finally accepts the new contract. What is likely to be left, who are in the first team squad at the moment, could be the following. Marshall Mannion Burton Moses Mazuch Clark? Clackstone Kimgsley McDonald Irvine Total Evandro Weir Batty Henriksen (Not sure of his contract situation, if it up then he will be off loaded) Stewart Olley Keane Campbell Dicko That's 20 players, of which 6 are from the U23's Likely or definitely to Go McGregor Dawson 3 Chelsea loan's Lenihan Meyler Grosicki Larsson Wilson (Liverpool Loan) Hernandez Dio Luer Bowen. 14 players
Of the 20 above I would hope that Marshall, Henriksen, Stewart, and Keane will be allowed to move on if there is any interest (???) or on frees.. Leaving us a first team of ... Mannion Odubajo, MacDonald, Mazuch, (Loanee). Toral Evandro Irvine (Loanee) Dicko Campbell If we stay up looks like another year of relegation struggle with that lot...assuming Allams don't spend their last payout on team strengthening. But hopefully it will be their last year of team decimation.
If we stay up, which I think we just might, we will go down next season for sure. It will be painful. The only way out of it is new owners early enough during summer.
Extreme cost cutting measures The allams to release all players out of contract, bank the parachute payment , pocket the transfer instalments due to us, which should give them there £50m asking price; the. Ehab will say there you go we gift you your team back with a threadbare squad, no strategy in place and no potential owners so a third party will run the club
Great to see Moses back training, fingers cross for him. Strange about Lenihan, must be back with the U23's at B Burton I assume.
By coincidence, I am just reading a book, which actually is quite funny, were one of the main characters is Per Persson, which as it says in the book is a difficult name if you stutter.
Ah. so it includes Ehab's wages too that explains it. Has anyone suggested he could possibly leave to help get it down ?
most of the current players are desperately lacking in backbone. the three chelsea players can piss off to their next loan at a club they treat like a training exercise (none of them will ever play for chelsea). i've made my position on dawson clear before. gosicki reminds me of previous massively overrated "star" players, like garry parker and geovanni and theo whitmore who flatter to deceive, from whom you're lucky to get one decent performance in five if they can be arsed on that day.
